Add " coasting " to that list if your in Ga.
AND - I was taught to slow down , look both ways and tell the tester that your looking for a train and say " clear both ways " before going over the tracks .

    Rick_C and 48Packard Thank this.

We also have to look both ways before going over the tracks. We dont have to say anything.

That makes a lot of sense. Even though your tester is probably watching you look, the fact that you state something reinforces to the tester that you know you need to look both ways.

The way I understood the rule/law, was you are required to maintain a safe steady speed. That being the case there would be no need for an autoshift to change gears. It should only change gears if your speeding up, or slowing down. I think FMCSA rules state, you must always slow down before a crossing, (slow enough to be able to stop before the first track if a train is coming) and look and listen for an approaching train, then proceed across the tracks.

So you pushed in the clutch BEFORE the tracks, and held it in across the tracks, and a full truck length before the light? Coasting that long and you are wondering why you failed?
