Well, I'm 2 weeks away from finishing school and hopefully get my Class A CDL so I put my resume together and started applying at local jobs. Last week a friend of mine called me and said that he heard a driver position will open up at the end of this month so I went and applied and at the same time got a briefly interview. Guess what? I got the job!!! Excellent benefits and hourly pay, home every day and only 4 days of work. Today I'm going to fill up some paper work and meet my first truck. I'm so excited and still can't believe it..

Congratulations. Same basic scenario occurred with me about a year ago. I didn't go through a school though...I know, I got lucky to be hired right out of the shoot.

No Chinatown he still gotta pay his dues no matter if its local or OTR to me paying ur dues is from going greener than a chilli pepper to knowing what your doing on a truck. There will be times u will sweat bullets and hopefully you will survive the learning period. I tell you what not knowing how to drive the rig and going strictly local work would put me all nervous. I use to just love surviving my back ins and eager not to back In for another 500 miles lol. To me thats paying ur dues.

I understand that; it's good some like local though, I prefer OTR. What I was getting at is most think you have to do OTR before getting a local job, which isn't true. I tried it very briefly but couldn't deal with the city traffic day in and day out. I like the coast-to-coast running.
