Well said! I came from a Multi-Billion dollar industry and we as well got hit very hard. The 25% bonus that I had in writing, well lets just say over two years I never saw a penny even though all my goals were obtained. Trucking is away of life and not a get rich quick scheme. I am sure there are trucker who do get rich on it, but they have put their time in it also just as with any other business.

They allow it in the lease trucks but not in the company trucks. Company trucks are pretty much "what you see is what you get" and very few modifications allowed.

Yep...you'd have to keep it on the DL. :biggrin_25525:

Don't know if it was a state or Federal thing but a friend of mine was able to take "maternity" leave when his son was born and his company couldn't say squat because there was some ruling that said it was discriminatory to only apply such leave to women.

They just don' want you running around in sweats or Daisy Dukes looking like trailer trash...lol. Other than that, it's fairly loose.

They don't have the 3-ring holes punched but you can punch them if you want. They come in stapled "books" but many of us just take out the staples and run loose leaf....company allows it.

I had to laugh at that one Toad, because I had 2 incidents that were very close, but one happened in reverse I guess. I woke up at a Truck Stop one morning, went in to take care of the morning business and grab a coffee for the road. As I came back out, I walked up to the truck, stuck my key in, opened the door, and started to climb in, when I noticed my floor mats were missing and someone had replaced my Galaxy CB with a cheaper one. It was then I realized I was in the wrong truck. I eased back out, gently closed and locked the door and casually walked away as if nothing happened. Don't know if the driver was sleeping or out of the cab. It was a Columbia like mine and I just didn't realize that mine was parked 2 spaces over. Oooooops!!!:biggrin_25524:

Another time, I was sleeping in a rest area. It was during the day and I had my bunk curtains closed. I awoke to the sound of my door opening and the truck shaking as someone got in. I sprung out of my bunk, and grabbed a large knife (Cold Steel Bushmaster) that I had the sheath velcroed to the cabinet next to my bunk. I ripped open the curtains, still half asleep, grabbed the guy that was half-way in the seat by now. His eyes were as big as saucers, from the looks of the big crazy guy with the long hair in his underwear, holding him by the throat with a very large, sharp, pointy blade less than a 1/4" from his nose. He said, I'm sorry, I got in the wrong truck with my key. It was then that I noticed he was wearing a KLLM hat. I let him go. He just kept saying, I'm sorry man it was a mistake. I never said a word the entire time, and was still half asleep as he walked away. I locked the door and went back to sleep. I never saw the guy on the road or at a terminal. But I'm sure he thinks that KLLM has a very big crazy driver with Long Hair, a goatee and a BIG KNIFE. :biggrin_25523:

The Toad is right. KLLM is probably one of the most solid Trucking Companies out there right now. If this job I'm on right now ever goes away, I'll go running back to KLLM begging for my job back. I can't think of another major company that I would want to work for.

You can always go to work for Werner and make 24 cpm or Swift and make 26cpm. I'll take the 32 cpm and the 3000 miles per week I was making anyday. From the time I made my upgrade, the lowest weekly miles I ever had was about 2400, and that was a slow week with a 34 hr reset. My benefits were good and I was always told the truth instead of a BS line that I hear drivers from other companies complain about. Look around you. I was driving a nice truck with about 100,000 miles on it, getting a decent check, driving during the day mainly like I wanted, and always home on my day specified.
Or, you can get the run around, get screwed, get a few days vacation at a truck stop in Ohio eating hot dogs, Tornados and Mountain Dew in between loads, and then layed off because you don't want to drive 2 or 3 -200 mile runs per week like alot of other drivers at other companies are getting right now. Most of the KLLM drivers I know, said they didn't like it, but they could still make it and were glad to at least have a job right now. There's alot of them who don't have work these days, and those that do are staving. Best stay where you are and make the best of 2 cpm cut. Your CEO took one along with the officer people, before they every touched the driver pay. Just sayin'.

I did one scale ticket with them and never got it back so I didn't bother with it anymore. Decent to work for though in the long run though.

That's me, long goatee, mohawk, both ear's pierced, lip and tongue pierced only thing is I only wear jeans, t-shirt and steel toe boot's all the time even when I'm at home. Last time I wore a pair of shoes (some time around back when I was 17-18) I had a piece of "I" beam dropped on my foot so I haven't worn tennis shoes sense. Beside's I find work boot's to be more comfortable on my feet.

As far as a sense of humor. If they ask me how I'm doing I'll tell them something like "oh, fair to partly cloudy" or "medium rare" and watch them laugh. When I'm up north I've had a few ask me if I had served in the military and I'd say no ma'am, why do you ask? Because you are so polite with the yes and no ma'am bit. Because I'm just a good ol' rockin' southern boy who was raised with mannors. They eat it up.

I'm not making any kickbacks here from Verizon, but their modem is durable, very small antenna, about $ 1300.00 yearly, it's a 100% tax write off and they seem to have the best coverage nationwide!

Just plug the modem into your card slot, load the software and go,
    bang your on the internet!

Just finished my orientation and I am definitely ready to work for this company. I have not found anything about KLLM that I don't like. Yeah, you eat Quiznos for lunch everyday, but hey; It's free. They let us go home for the holidays and hook up with trainer afterwards. Anyone thinking about this company being solid, well we had 15 in our orientation with about 20+ coming for orientation in January. I think I definitely made the right choice. Everyone else I went to school with and followed up with are not happy. No company names mentioned.
