i don't think it is worth it to try to fix the evap. it has to be taken out and re installed ether way. a new one is likley to last longer than a repair and less down time to just throw a new one in.
if they leak is in the middle of the core it cant really be reliably repaired anyway. if its on a end outside of the fins it could likely be soldered. -
as you already know ac systems are nothing to be scared of a lot of people don't really understand them so are afraid to work on them. really its all pretty simple stuff once you have done a few just need a couple inexpensive tools (vacuum pump/gauge set ect)
if you got the time and want to try to fix it and the leaks are in a spot that is repairable. just try to fix it yourself. clean the leak thoughly use acid flux on it use a torch and solder the leak. if it does not work your only out time. if the leak is anywhere in the finned area you normally can not get a reliable repair.DetroitSpecial Thanks this. -

So i just came from radiator shop, lmao get this the "RADIATOR SPECIALIST" supposedly applied 175 psi to my condensor, then he dropped it in this big pool of brown water looking for bubbles nothing showed up,keep in mind yesterday i did it the old fashioned way i capped the condensor shot air in it,instead of just water i used dawn dish detergent in a old spray bottle, put about 50 psi in manifold gauge, turned it off and sprayed it down front, back side to side and poured sudsy liquid on top of the coils, and what do you know little bitty bubbless started foaming in 3 different areas lol,so today after i got back from the shop redid the same thing and wala MAGIC there goes the bubbles i got a chalk n circle the tiny areas, tomorrow i will be applying a 2 part jb weld patches over the condensor holes, and they are tiny barely the size of a pintip temporarily, until i get A better price or it KONKS Out in 120 heat MOTIVATING ME, international wants $700 Napa $450 Heavyduty $350 lol but its better to try then not try at all,and before any one starts yapping bout dont use jb weld i used it before and know how much pressure freon is under and it worked,if for some reason it fails then ill be buying a new one, only thing will be unrecoOped is my time, but not until i find a more decent price, but if you don't wanna use it fine,i understand lol any hoot thanks to all

You would be surprised of all of the things JB weld can fix!
I say go for it...very well worth the try.
I have used that stuff on radiators, engine blocks and exhaust manifolds before and it usually holds up for a long time.
A few bucks versus a few hundred......heck yea...worth a try!DetroitSpecial Thanks this. -
