Not 100% sure if you fall under the local trucker rules but as far as i know you can refuse to work anything over 48 hours a week according to the labour board unless you signed something waiving that right. This is why it pays to read the fine print

Okay so let's redefine this properly.

    1. You're working within a confined compound, so although you are operating equipment you are technically not 'driving'. You are an equipment operator.
    2. Due to this classification, you don't fall under the hours of service regulations when it comes to drive time/on duty time. Your a shunt driver/dock guy basically.
    3. That means labour laws apply to you.
ALL OF THEM. You are not required to work more than so many hours a day, or so many hours a week without MANDATORY OVERTIME each day, or once you hit 44 hours. Which means that by Wednesday you should be working overtime, and anything passed Friday should be all double time.
    4. You cannot be forced to work 7 days a week, overtime in most cases is non-mandatory beyond a certain point, and being forced to work it goes against a federal law.

So my now informed friend, call the labour board, and get this guy in some sheit. Either get your overtime you're owed or get this sheister of a boss investigated and sit back and watch him sweat.

as long as you are not hired as private contractor but employee:
do it for a couple of weeks, then when your paycheque doesnt show the OT pay you are entitled to, that he obviously thinks he can get away with, THEN hit the board to force him to pay you the extra cash. You need to leave at that point but you can go to the next company with the extra capability you will have gained and legitimate grounds for leaving early.
think of it as "exam week"
    Use him to your advantage

You have up to six months to file a claim with the Canada Labour Code people. It's in your best interests to quietly go online and start a claim there. Be sure you can prove that your employer consented to your overtime you worked. Be sure that your employer cannot claim that they told you NOT to work overtime for the time you did actually work.
