I see way more CAT engines with a million than cummins or troit will ever see. No good engine in the last 15 years eh? That why the 3406E, C15 and C16 are the best engines every made PERIOD. If you really dont think so you are in denial or clueless, i have real hands on experience with these and other engines, nothing comes close to the reliability of the 3406E based engine, not even the 3406B.

Because they dont like to front the extra $$$ for the yellow paint, on average ya gotta pay $5k more. Not only that they "dont get the best millage" :biggrin_25526: Comnpanies dont care about million mile this or that, they trade every 3 years anyway, and with their "professional" steering wheel holders no engine will last, from what i noticed cummins and troit are idiot proof, while you have to actually watch the gauges on a CAT and baby sit it some.

Ill put it to you this way, when WERNER started to order ex hd 379s back in 97 with 475hp 3406E's they opted not to put a side box in the sleeper on the passanger side, why? so they save $50 per truck!!!!!!!! They did go for the yellow though atleast they spec their eqipment somewhat good for a huge outfit.

1693 was a good one but it was also a very complicated engine, i still see some guys running them till today but not working them very hard.

Its still no E model though even though the 1693 was a true pioneer and wake up call to cummins and troit on how to actually make a diesel engine last.... Back when engines would last 250k along comes a million mile 1693.

They were all great engines, B model was one of the best, then came the C model with wider rod journals meaning you didnt have to put rod bearings in it every 500k miles. Then came the E, each group of engines from year to year was improved on....... Up to about 2003 that is.
