i know a few things about mechanics and can tell you from knowing a few mechanics, automatics are a lot harder to work on then manual transmissions. at least with cars, because of all the components on the inside that control the auto. could be different with trucks though.
I've been waiting for a trainer for 2 weeks from Usxpress...

and honestly who the hell wants to drive an automatic? i love shifting. my 9speed has gone back to ryder and i only have 6 speeds now it sucks! i love shifting its a skill and im proud of it, plus pulling weight is much easier in a 9 speed then a 6

in real life i love to drive manual cars over auto cuz more blast of fun to drive. im gearheaded type of guy XD and yes auto is more harder to work on than manual. plus its actually cost less to do it cuz you just have to replace one part that broken in manual tranny vs auto with multi due to computer crap. thats just from my experience....

Just to address some of the comments about newbies wanting to drive automatics; I want to drive an automatic because it's easier than a manual. Not sure what some people have against that. I can drive a manual but why should I if I don't have to? All I can say is, thank God, in America we are able to have preferences. I do think that being a female is why it is taking so long to get a trainer because another girl that was in orientation with me said she is still waiting as well. Hoping they call me Monday.

How specific were you on the criteria for your trainer? Did you request a female trainer? Did you request a non-smoker? ect.............
-
I told them it didn't matter if it was male or female and I'm a smoker so I guess I don't have much of a choice on that because they said they don't know which trainers can't stand cigarettes and are allergic. I would prefer a female but I didn't tell them that because that would make it harder to get one. Either way I'm ready to start driving. This is going to be quite an experience for me since I've been at a desk the last few years.

My wife requested a non-smoking trainer and did not state male or female preference. It took three weeks and she got a male trainer. He is awesome and she has been out one and a half weeks. She will hit 75 hours driving tomorrow even with all of the horrible weather we are having. This weather has slowed training down a bit. Keep calling your training coordinator. Just remind them every day you are there.
