I've made my choice...it's my turn.

  1. I am aware. I'm also know what a buddy of mine who lives nearby does. He heads to slc makes a quick 200-300 on a short haul to cover his deadhead back, then runs nw for a week or two and waits for a decent load back to the Midwest. He sometimes flys home for hometime. Impossible? It's not for him.

Well sure if someone wants to deadhead endlessly or run for cheap playing the waiting game they can eventually find a way back to the midwest
As of right now zero loads within 200 miles of Boise throughout the next 7 days.. that should speak volumes.

I have family in Florida, one time I went in and out of there and figured afterwards if was a huge waste of time.
Running the numbers I've found leaving my truck in a good market and flying works better financially overall.
    Just something to think about.

  4. She's the person I dealt with. From what I understand, she just does the initial credit check. She won't be the person you deal with when it comes time to find a truck.

Pork Chop Express and RStewart Thank this.
  5. 10-4. And I appreciate your input. Right now, I d/h home quite often, but I'm not the norm out here. I run 5-6 weeks and take 2 weeks off. My friend who's on IC choice told me to be flexible coming out of the house and he will help me be creative with getting me back.

I'm going to give an example of what I mean using some numbers

Boise to Chicago and back is 3400 miles.
Lets say that run can be pulled off in a week at $1 all miles (and I'm being nice saying $1 all miles)
Fuel at 7.2 MPG at $2.20 is about $1040 then say to make math simple $60 in DEF.
So $1100 in fuel costs and then you have the $1100 in fixed costs all in going with SFI.
    You'd be left with $1200.

Now instead lets say you run 5 days in the midwest 500 miles a day at $1.70 all miles.
Fuel costs with DEF using the same numbers would be about $800.
So off the gross of $4250 subtract fuel and fixed costs and you're left with $2350 with two days off.
So you're an extra $1350 ahead of the game giving two days off for travel.
I just looked up airplanes from Boise to Chicago run $150 each way.. So that's $300 and add an extra $50 for taxi and BS stuff.

So by using this example you just earned an extra $1000 in a week by flying vs driving for cheap.

  7. Right. There's a way. :) I get it brotha.

Sandra was the one I talked to initially and gets all your info together. She will then pass it on to the person who will be your ICA.

Cool. She seems pretty nice. What exactly is the ICA's position? What do they do?
