I hope someone can help me out. I bought a Uniden Bearcat 980SSB a few months ago and put it in my 2011 Mack Pinnacle. I started off with a firestick. Would not broadcast more than couple hundred feet, and the receiving signal sounded like Charley Brown's teacher (muddled). Went to a duel antenna system with even less luck. Yesterday I purchased a Cobra 29 LTD and I cant transmit or hear anyone on it. Im running a Wilson 2000 Trucker now, with 18 ft on the more expensive coax. Can anyone help? 15162001203331371594603.jpg

Coax usually junk inside mirror from getting twisted around. Pinnacle I drove I ended up installing my own single coax
Don’t recall where I mounted antennae, off fairing likely

It sounds like you are having the same problems as the guys who drive the casscadia trucks. There’s a very informative thread about this problem on this forum. The problem is that the new trucks have fiberglass bodies instead of metal. It makes it difficult to match a cb antenna to the radio.

Quickest way to see what the problem might be is to visit a cb shop that has an antenna analyzer.

You know I think that is one of my problems, I'm going out the door with my coax and its definitely getting pinched. Without drilling a hole I dont know what to do other than try the stock over the mirror mount, that comes with the truck. Thanks!

Sounds like a bad ground. You need an SWR meter and the knowledge on how to use it to see where you stand.
