Just want everyone to know about IWX and the way L in safety screws over people! If I had it to do it over I would NOT have taken this job! First of all, any time there is damage to the truck or trailer they will take that money out of your check until it is paid. Second, there is NO recourse in the state of Misery because this is a right to work state which means the employer can do just about anything they want, and that includes taking money out of your check for just about any reason and the employee can do nothing but take it!! It is my personal opinion that between the two people S C & L S, anyone that has worked or does work at IWX knows what those initials stand, they don't have enough heart to pump blood for an ant!!! It would cost more for the power to blow both away than they are worth!!! How can you let a man work for you for a whole week and then take over fifty percent of his pay, for something that should be company expense? One other thing, if anyone out there has an Attorney name in Springfield, MO that might be of help I would appreciate it very much. I understand there is at least one that really has a problem with IWX? I could say a lot more but can't use the words that I would like to so. . . guess I will quit, wouldn't want to offend anyone's virgin ears!!!!

i had a employer try to keep money out of my check once.
had some chaines come of the rack a little just enough for drives to grab them. This caused the quarter fender to be ripped off. When i called in was told do'nt worry bout it. I was already planing to quit after that run anyway.
When i got my check the money for repair was taken out. This was quite some time ago though. (96) I called the labor board, two weeks later i had my money back. if i remember right it was because i had not signed an agrement to pay for repairs. that company was in ca. i live in nv. i called the california labor board, i did all this from my living room. i was also told by the labor board i was intitled to 100.00 a day interest from the time of the deduction not to exceed 30 days. so iwould call your states labor board.
companies fear the labor board big time! more than lawyers and the labor is also a free deal LOL
GOOD LUCK -
Thanks driverdriver for answering but I have already called the local state labor board and they go by the federal law and that means that the employer can take just about any amount and for just about any reason out of your check and you have no recourse!!! The employer has to pay you minimum wage but they can take taxes out of that!!

Your welcome Tripper11,
Sorry to hear you got that type of responce, I must admit labor boards can't always solve your issues. i would say though i would try speeking to a few differant people at the board (personal exspereance) I say this because i had to use them a couple of years later? on another trucking co. when i called the board i was told there was nothing they could do. a few weeks later i wound up gettn into a convertion about my employment sitsuation with a neighbor.
I had no idea this guy was..... yes..... the head of the labor board in my city. He told me what i was told on the phone was infact not true.
"Come see me at the office on monday i'll take care of this personal"
I learned quite a few things over the next couple of weeks lol.
One thing was that even though in this case the co. was based in tx I filled out my app. in reno,nv witch meant I needed to use the board in nv not tx, and yes i won. IT would take to long to explain the whole thing but, not only did this co. have to pay me over time (past and present) They also had to go back and pay any employee current and former that held that position overtime. yep thats wright all because this guy new about a loop hole in the law pertaining to trucking, and it was't just about the app. thing. Buy the way at the time i was doing a yard jockey gig in between driving jobs. i hope not but, maybe your at the end of the road with this issue. And not to give you false hope either but, i would not just except what one or even two people told me sometimes you have to keep digging till you get someone that actually knows what there talking about. Or and i can fully understand just moving on Either way GOOD LUCKLast edited: Oct 1, 2011

What is the rest of the story? Lots of companies will make a driver pay the deductible if the driver is involved in any kind of accident or incident. You sign off that you're ok with it during orientation and that's when you should be asking questions about what you're signing.
mathematrucker Thanks this. -
The rest of the story is, I don't like being forced to pay someone else's deductible regardless of what the reason is, if I had wanted that headache I would have got my own truck. As far as signing off in orientation, don't see that a person has much choice, if you don't sign you don't get the job??? In my mind that is signing under 'duress'!!! And the reason a lot of trucking co's are starting to make a driver pay is because the driver lets them get away with it. And I know that people have to work and don't really a choice sometimes. But then again, you eat enough 'crow' you get a belly full, it's time to change the menu!!! Hine sight is always better than foresight?? Like the old saying, 'shoulda, coulda, woulda!!
