Yep...I agree with @x1Heavy. Stick it out at least 1 year. It'll look better on your resume. Most of these jobs require at least a year or two to be qualified.

You probably see all kinds of trailers with bakery products on the side...like Thomas's English muffins, Arnold bread, Entehmans, etc...that's them. Grocery Haulers. Most of Bimbo's plants are Union. Brenigsville plant is fairly new, around 5 years old. It replaced the Norristown plant...which is closed now and used as a hub...and they pay REALLY good. Most of the work is drop and hook to depots...where the RSR bread truck sales drivers load up their delivery vans. But I heard Brenigsville also does DSD as well. They started off Union, then Union was voted out and went Non Union, and now I heard they voted them back in. If it's Union, you'll get free healthcare, pension, and possibly severance pay as well...and it'll take you 5 years to reach top rate. If it's Non Union, you'll start off close to top rate and make around $300 a day to start..no progressive pay scale. I think that's why they voted them out... because it took too long to reach top rate.

Also look into ODFL. They're in Allentown too. You can research them on this site and see how good of a company they are. Don't really have to explain about them...they have nothing but positive reviews. Pitt Ohio is OK too. They offer free healthcare...which is rare for a Non Union LTL outfit.

Black Horse Carriers pays by the load...trip rate. They have accounts with Aldi, Mercedes-Benz, and various other dedicated accounts. Average around $1500 a week. Work is easy from what I was told. If you do a 12 hour run in 9-10 hours...you still get paid for 12.

    Rojazmorillo and x1Heavy Thank this.

    Do not expect Merchedes-Benz.

The current politcal-economic wars with the Tariffs etc being imposed in America's favor with imports is going to hurt us a while. Particularly the people involved in making cars and what not for example.

I almost forgot. Had a Homer moment.....

There's a 4th option. NFI in Brenigsville. They hire new students...so someone with less than a year experience should have no problem landing a job. I've seen them haul Bimbo Bakeries products before...so it might be a way to get a foot in the door at Bimbo Bakeries and get familiar with the company and staff. Pay is around what you would already make at JB Hunt (which by the way, I also agree on option #3...Intermodal...if you plan on staying with JB Hunt). You may need a couple more years experience to be qualified for Grocery Haulers...but either way...NFI or JB Hunt Intermodal is a HELLUVA lot closer than commuting all the way down to Harrisburg. Just put in a couple more months...to gain more experience...and then move on to bigger and better things...like Grocery Haulers or ODFL.

I am a current JB employee and I would choose none of the above. Let's take a look shall we?

Option 1, driving in the 5 boroughs trying to back up in extremely hard conditions with your experience? ( no offense) you will be 1 or 2 parking lot incidents away from being terminated.

Option 2, This account sounds tempting, almost went there myself but..... It is multi stop deliveries and places like Lowes stop taking deliveries at 4pm so you have to wait until the next day to offload. This screws up your next day and so on. Plus it's seasonal freight meaning you will help other accounts often.

Option 3, also tempting but...…. I don't care for nights and don't enjoy working weekends. This job wants both? Your out of your mind.

NFI? Been there done that Not a fan...….

    try this

LOCAL CDL-A DRIVERS, BE HOME EVERY NIGHT!!!

There is a lot of options if you really look.

They couldn't pay enough to get me into the borough's so #1 is out. I don't unload freight and staying in the truck 2 nights a week kind of defeats the purpose of going local so #2 is out. If it's me the 3rd choice is the only option.
