I'm hereing rumblings of j.b. hunt now hauling fuel in Rockford,Chicago area now. Schneider tried that quite a few years ago and ended up pulling all trucks and no longer doing it. Don't think it lasted a year or two at the most. What have you heard or seen?

If they are doing it, it would be a dedicated contract deal.

Can you imagine a typical JB driver trying to maneuver into and out of gas stations? God help us all. But at least it ain't Swift, Super Ego, or Western Express.

J B Hunt probably has more million milers than some of the "smaller" companies have drivers.

I've seen JB Hunt lately pulling all type of trailers ...Hauling logs, pulling animal feed trailers, hauling bricks on flatbed with a forklift on back, they took over local deliveries at the Home Depot here in the city where I live (flatbed with forklift & Box truck).

Back in the 90s, JB Hunt drivers were mostly new drivers, trained in JB schools. They were the butt of many jokes, ala Swift drivers today. Then they closed their schools, raised their pay rates and started hiring experienced drivers. Late 90s paying $0.41 a mile was near the top of the truckload industry. And it paid off as accidents dropped substantially.
Unfortunately, they continued their bait a switch when hiring and for a long time continued slip seating the sleeper trucks or they could have been able to hire some really good drivers.

Ya but for the last 10 or so years they are focusing on short haul work……and basically screwing everything up locally

they helped kick the union company drivers out of a feed mill near me.

8+ years ago JB was pulling dumps up and down I-39 south of Rockford. I've never heard of them hauling fuel, that would be a new one!

Thats the DCS they have. Dedicated Contract Service. JB has bought out different companies and now have alot of local jobs. And also JBH also provides the truck and a driver to alot of there customers too. Im not saying they pay well. But JB shifted from OTR to local and regional some time back.
