RogerThat72 has made a request that his thread be re-opened. I'm sharing that request because it contains his explanation of what has happened here and because this is something that he had originally posted in public, anyway:

He's made it clear that recruiting isn't a priority for him and we're willing to take him at his word. I don't think that this thread was started with the intent to recruit drivers and there is a lot of good information in it.

We're going to grant his request to re-open the thread with the understanding that his only interest is in giving an honest account of his experiences with the company and that he isn't going to be involved with any advertising/recruiting efforts. But, we want to be sure that everyone is clear on our policy concerning recruiting by drivers, so I encourage all of you to read the link that I posted above.

Now, that's enough about the moderating - let's get back to discussing J&R Schugel, please.

Had a great week. Met another schugel driver. Told me he's been working here for 2 1/2 years. Had a long conversation about his experience with the company and how he " LOVES IT HERE" and "not the best top paying company" but " they take care of the drivers here." He told me a time when his wife had passed away that he was 400 miles away not under a load and had no money to pay for fuel to get home. The end result was the company just told him to go and take care of his business at home and he never had to reimburse the money and nothing was said at all about it but to get home as quick as possible and the company understood the circumstances.

Anyways i came came off home time last week as previously posted. I got a 1,875 mile load from Springfield Mass. Got a ticket. But this load had two stops. 1 in Wichita, KS and one in Fort Worth, TX. The last stop was a nightmare but I got paid $10 bucks an hr in detention so I got paid $50 and the miles I drove that day. Americold was the Con if you wanted to know.

Didnt get my paper work in for a pay check so decided I would combine the two weeks. Got a 550 mile load that I had to dead head 320 without getting paid for back to Wichita, KS and bring it to fairbourne, OH. Next load after that was a 600 mile load from Ohio to Georiga. Now I'm on my last load of the week from Gerogia to NJ 890 miles. Not the best two weeks but enough to take home 750 per week and bring a bi weekly home of 1,400-1,500 after reimbursement for tolls and scales. Not my best week here but it pays the bills, and makes me happy and puts some jangle in my pocket.

Have a a great weekend and stay safe out there! Spring/summer and winter are here in some areas! Stay alert for those nascar weaving cut you off 4 wheelers. See ya in a week! OUT!

Why did you not get paid for the 320 miles you had to deadhead back to Wichita? Does Schugel pay for deadhead miles? Seems like that would be a lot of driving for nothing.

Its a a long story but to make it short the bills wanted me to go to Kansas first then Texas. The work order said Texas first then Kansas. I was confused and being 8 months in for total driving I went by the manifest or bills order because the work orders do come over at time wrong. I messages my dispatcher and he didn't get to it in time due to it being on a Friday. No one responded and that's that. So I thought they would give me a load out of Texas up but it was out of Kansas. Who knows maybe they'll add those miles in but I know for sure it wasn't on the dispatch load assignment or else the total trip from Texas to Kansas to ohioh is about 750 miles instead of 500.

to answer your question JR schugel pays all miles empty or loaded at .36 with .9 being per-deim.

Schugel is installing cameras in all trucks that will " only record when activated by a critical event." Not a deal breaker for me but once enough experience will be moving on. Not having one of those in my truck. Had one with Werner it was annoying beeping all the time following distance and actually triggered critical events itself.

Week was was fine lower side on miles 2,300 plus some detention pay blah blah blah.

So the bloom has come off the rose already with Schugel? That's too bad you seem to like it there.

I wouldnt say say the bloom has fallen off. Schugel is a good company. I do like it here but to be honest the only reason I wanted to do OTR was to get enough experience to go "local." I will stay here long enough to get debt free and get approved and buy a house. You need 6 months at a job to do that so winter would be the calling for that. Then I'll take schneider or JB hunt up on their offer of home daily CNA or intermodle. Due to where I live that's about it for local unless somthing else opens up.

My son will be 4 this year and I'm not saying that I miss home which would be a complete lie if I said I didn't miss it at all. I just want to be home with my family more often.

Would i I join and run for this company again? Of course. If it doesn't work out like I stated above will I come back and run for this company again. If they want I will.

I can can live with the camera. I have experience with it before. I just feel like it's invading on privacy. Could it save me in an accident case. Possibly.

Wow. The one facing in to the driver just seems to be an invasion of privacy since you sleep in the truck. That's your home.
