Who ever told you that doesn't know any thing about driving,If you drive with crappy tires and jake in a corner with n weight on you might jackknife, but why would you use your jake or brake in a corner. I run a cummins my jake is on high all the time empty or loaded if any thing happens like a jackknife which can happen any time loaded or empty, just accelerate a bit and your trailer will straighten right out or pull your trailer brake handle and that will also pull the trailer back behind you. never use your tractor brakes this will make you jackknife more. if you need to brake a little on ice and snow use your trailer handle. You have to try it when your out there (by yourself) (going slow) hit your brakes and see what happen, pull your trailer lever, use your jake etc try it that way you will be ready for any thing that happens............

NEVER use the trailer brake handle, try that on a curve and that sucker will come around and pass you.

Yeah you're right. Only been at this #### since Sept. 1961. Never had a chargeable and don't know how to drive, just been lucky all these years I guess.

PS I went down a lot of mountains before Jakes were invented. Be darned huh, we used the brakes !!!! Some of the brakes were air and a lot were still vacuum brakes. Separated the men from the boys, I'm still here !!!! :)

Re-Read all the posts nothing said about jakes and hills, you don't even need a jake in Alberta or anywhere east of B.C.

Apparently you've never been across parts of northern Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick or Labrador.

Owner operators always used the trailer brakes to save their own. At least before Pacific Brake came out. Are you an Owner Op by any chance?

Why should anyone, anywhere in this country not have a Jake east of BC? You're trying real hard to come across as an expert in a field in which you may not have much knowledge.
