I invite you to investigate how much Kwik Trip gets from the state of Wisconsin for each location it opens.
Then please look up how much state funding is proposed for West Shore Pipeline to build a pipeline from Chicago to Green Bay.
Next move onto "retail motor fuel outlet" tax incentives.
That's modern funding. Going back to the start of ICE infrastructure, please research Standard Oil and all of its sweetheart deals with Federal, State, and Local governments. Then you have all the government contracts for vehicles, not to mention the whole Federal Hiwghway Act of 1956.
While tax payers didn't directly pay for all the infrastructure associated with ICE vehicles, they did pay for a large part of it. Just like taxpayers paid for most of the initial railroad development- either through land grants, exclusive rights, or other granted privileges. At various times the government also subsidized printing presses, radios, TV, electricity, and telephones to help nascent technologies develop.
Jay Leno and the Tesla semi, most info I've seen to date

I, for one, don't mind spending a little money on electric infrastructure instead of using the lives of our best young men and women as grease for the oil industry.86scotty Thanks this. -
Yeah....nice machine, Jay.
Counterpoint -- no EV discussion would be complete without the following video (it's "revolting"):

It’s a great thing no ICE vehicles or semis ever catch fire on a bridge or in a tunnel but at least if they did the fire rarely burns through concrete and steel… a lithium fire burns hotter than the melting point of concrete and steel . PS the Jeep ceo stated in a conference that due to short supplies and environmental protections against mining , the material costs will price the middle class out of car ownership. Currently they can get enough to keep prices reasonable but once new ICE vehicles are banned the demand will skyrocket if there’s even enough to meet demand.. A EV future is Everyone in cities walks bikes or uses public transit country people use a EV for limited purposes .

Well, I will never buy another truck of any kind. Mine is nearly 4 years old and doesnt even have 250k miles on it yet and I will be 67 in a couple of months. But my next CAR will be a hybred. But then I am also in the process of moving to Florida (they started putting the cinderblock walls up this week) hopefully Dec/Jan.
Magoo1968 Thanks this.
