I came back to driving after a 1 year break. I had a lot of interest from JB Hunt because they have a dedicated account very near my home.

I spoke to two different recruiters, one was kind of a "headhunter" and one was right at the Corporate Offices. I'm in the Army Reserve and have been for 10 years. I do the standard one weekend a month and train for two weeks at some point during the year...everything is scheduled a year in advance.

They said they had a lot of drop and hook and weekly hometime and all the other wonderful promises companies make. The bottom line though was they said they couldn't work with me because I was in the reserves and couldn't get me home for weekends "for sure".

Not saying anything unpatriotic about JB, but they called me every day almost for a while and after I told them I was a reservist, they didn't even call me back to tell me they couldn't work with me.

First off, let me say I totally respect you for the service you give to our country. Without people like you, we wouldn't have the freedoms we take for granted today. So with that, THANK YOU!

I'm not a JB Hunt recruiter or anything like that, but it would be very hard for any irregular route carrier to work with you being home for that one specific weekend per month. I'm sure any carrier would do thier best to
get you home, but in the reality of things they couldn't guarantee it. There are too many varibles (i.e. weather conditions, road closures, flat tires, accidents, etc, etc, etc). So I thiunk the JB HUnt guy was just trying to be honest and upfront with you.

I would definitly pursue dedicated opportunities with carriers in order to predict home time better. Either that or look at local companies that can get you home and off on the weekends.

Again thank you for you sacrifice! You are appreciated!
