A friend of mine is debating whether to work for JB Hunt in an intermodal position here in Memphis, but he thinks the accident last year will make him ineligible for hire. Accident didn't result in termination and was a quarter size dent on the rear fender of some dude's car. What are JB Hunt's policies on past accidents? Don't know anyone personally who has or currently works for that company and online searches ain't turning up any answers.

He's stressing over what appears to be a certain amount of property damage. Maybe a thousand or less depending on what he hit.

I ran for JBH as a experiement for a couple of weeks. And they stuck me into a cabover of all things. And what do I do?" put a dent onto a pickup truck that happened to have a 3000 dollar computer in a box back there. I told JBH not to stick me in a cabover back in them days.

I decided that was enough of that and got out then and there. I was accumulating medical issues that needed serious attention anyway. They kept calling me for about three years every few months wanting me back. I had to tell them that disability took care of that idea permanently.

That should give you a idea of what's possible. Prior to JBH several companies that year I was either running Medicines with very high value loads excess of Million plus or sloushing food and reefer stuff into the east from the west wherever we needed to as a team with some accidents with a pretty big property damage here and there along the way.

It was a interesting time. But all I can tell you is give em a call and find out. My very first dent I put into someone's car happened to be a ATF agent on the LIE up in NYC on the island. I dented him pretty good on the quarter. But no firing just a little yelling back then usually a one way converstation back at the yard office.

Yeah the car tried to whip around him at a green light (cut into the right turn only lane and gunned it) but didn't make it around the front of the truck in time, but somehow my friend still ended up being at fault. I told him he should've fought it, but he didn't have the money to take off work or hire a lawyer. I've also heard JB can be spiteful when it comes to folks DACs, but not sure how much truth there is to that to give him any direction on the ordeal.

Hm. A few moments of video of that car whipping around like that on a 100 dollar camera that records that stuff to loop it back for all to see... would have taken care of that.

I had one in Arlington east try that with me (Dallas west) on a flyover. I made room for him because I know that those two would be dead if I did not find room. Im still angry with them and it's been darn near 20 years now, stupid kids.. who probably have kids that do the same thing now.

I urge your friend to get a recording HD camera if at all possible. And have it running well at all times. Scottie67 on these forums is the king of driver camera. Always something that comes up now. It really takes out the he said she said.

As far as the DAC... any driver can place a rebuttal into a DAC report within a fixed statue of limits. You have a certain amount of time to write and submit a rebuttal to DAC and I understand that if that is not contested by the carrier/employer it is removed. I could be wrong.

Ive got things on that DAC that I thank God that the Law says it has to be cleared in 10 years or less. If they went back 30 years for example... Ive been a baaad boy. I pulled my own and it's clean this year it's like my entire life did not happen in trucking. I would be treated as a flat newbie fresh from highschool. (Yea right...) but it is what it is.

It does not hurt to try. But you and your friend needs to sort of... *Hunts for words..... ... stand tall. You cannot allow any industry to turn you into a shivering fearful child afraid of a stormy day. Bad things happen sometimes to people. It's how it comes out that seperates those who will get to gon on doing what they want in life versus them that don't

    Be honest.

They'll ask him to explain it.

If they want him, they'll take him. If not, they won't. No loss to him.

    Also...

They do hair analysis and agility testing.

They have a team of people who will call him as he comes onboard...

    Recruiter...
    Background checker...
    Transportation...
    Accommodations...
    Orientation...
