Does anyone know the current idle policy for Jb hunt? I just recently started with them and was wondering how picky they are with the current fuel prices and summer coming up if I could idle or not

    Idling hurts the children.

The people who make up company no idle rules are the same Ones sleeping comfortably in the A/C in their quiet homes and very few have ever slept on top of a diesel idling but keeping you alive

Why are you not asking your driver leader, or someone in your own chain of command?

I'm not with JBH, but Swift.
They do not like idling trucks, but they give at least a little leeway.
Our trucks can idle in certain temperature ranges, otherwise they shut off after 5 minutes.

My thinking is that I will idle the truck as needed and/or as possible.

The fuel prices are not my concern as a company driver.
My concern has not changed from wanting to stay comfortable and safe.

Higher fuel costs? Then those costs are simply added to the rates, just like any increased cost of operation.
We and they can get all stressed out about it, but since everyone is in the same boat doing the exact same thing I see no reason to stress about issues none of us has any real control over.

These companies constantly preach safety, then how on earth can a driver be safe without proper rest..i guess they cant figure that out..

My favorite is back when I was with Swift. Driver manager called me and informed me my idle time was 43%. She said don't worry as I'm not even in her top 10 drivers for idle time.
Let that 43% sink in and try figuring out why there was such high idle vs. actually driving and making money....

They can figure it out, they just don't want to.
