JB Hunt - Lease Purchase Program

First let me say "STAY AWAY FROM THE JB HUNT LEASE PURCHASE PROGRAM" unless you;

1. Never want to get home.
2. Like getting lied to.
3. Living on a $100.00 "advance", which actually is only $90.00!
4. Dredding every Thursday nite when the Qualcomm alerts you that your settlement is in.

I could go on and on about this company, but I did get lucky and got out of this program legally and without anything on my DAC!

From day one I figured this deal was to good to be true, but kept on trucking thinking it could not get any worse, LOL!!

1st off welcome to the forums.
2nd wish you would have found us sooner as we could have advised you not to do it.

All companies lease programs are a written in such a way that no solo driver will ever get out of the red. Glad you got out just make it a lesson learned and move on. The only way lease ever works out is if you team or train. Sorry you had to go though that but with 4 years under your belt I wish you would have known anything that seems to go to be true is.

Thank You for your reply! I still ache after a year, not to say still paying for that year JBT!!

At least I am still trucking, log truck, but still yearn for the open road.

i have a friend here at ffe leasing for about three yrs now and he has well over 100 grand cash in bank. now he is single with no mortgage or rental payments and he trains.

First thing I did was READ and UNDERSTAND my contract..Yes they give you a "90 Day" out, but understand you had to notify them, in writing, that you were going to exersise YOUR option to opt out of your contract, EARLY..Problem with this is that this notice must be submitted to them 30 days before you were canceling the contract!..This was not an option for this driver, seeing that they could and more than likely would make my life more miserible than it was..

Also, the truck MUST be returned to the same place it was picked up, mine was Atlanta, GA, or you would be charged a relocation fee..I was dispatched to Atlanta 1 time prior, ONE time! (Let me give an example of they will play the game..I was sitting in TN before Thanksgiving last year and asked, via canned 33, that I get a load to the Northeast to stop and see our family in PA..Where did I end up for Thanksgiving? Michigan!)

The truck had to be retuned in the same condition as it was when you took posession of it or you would be charged to put it back to sellable condition..That part was no problem, but it is in the contract!

Everything, I thought was on JB Hunt's side, I thought, no way out..I'm going to lose my escrow, $3500.00 and get a one way bus ticket from East Jabip, TX when they, JB Hunt, actually screwed up!

While still in Michigan I get an "URGENT" OBC message that if I did not get a DOT Physical by 12/06 my contract would be TERMINATED! Drivers, I have never been terminated by anybody in my life! Next thing I get is another URGENT message from my FM that he will get me to Atlanta so this physical can be completed! To say the least I was out of control mad, but back to the contract and there it was!

The contract was for a period of 1 year and could be "terminated by either party" without ramifacations!

Now in order to get my DOT physical I needed to get an EKG as per DOT regulations, I had a heart attack 5 years prior, and a list of medications with MY doctors approval that they are ok to drive while taking..I tell my FM that I needed to get to Columbia, SC to have all this completed before I get to Atlanta..Next thing I know I get a P/P to a Walmart DC outside of Atlanta..P/P gave me 5 days from Ohio for a drop and hook! Delivered in 2 days and I roll to the house, after filling the tanks..The next day the FM calls and asks what I am doing and I tell him I'm going to the house in ordeer to get everything I need so that I get this physical completed..He says that he wanted to get me a load, but I told him that I was done screwing around and also that JB Hunt was not going to terminate me for failure to comply with DOT regulations, which they would have put on my DAC in a heart beat..

The rest was easy..Got my paperwork from the VA hospital, cleaned out the truck, swept the trailer, rolled to Atlanta, got the DOT physical card and faxed to the FM my intention to excerise "MY RIGHT" to terminate my contract one year to the day!

Sorry about the length of this post, but in order to tell everyone the story it was needed..

The main point here is this..READ AND UNDERSTAND YOUR CONTRACT, THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PEICE OF PAPER IN YOUR TRUCK!!

i dont know why some of these get on here these wild stories other then just give new drivers bad info 100,000 in the bank paid of morgage in 3 years lol come on

Either your friend is telling you a load of hogwash, or you are telling us a load of hogwash. Which is it?

Do the math Dummy!

The truck gets paid a certain amount of money. Out of that, you have to pay for maintenance of the truck. Then you have food and clothes for yourself, and God forbid maybe one or two nights a month having fun. After all the expenses come out of what your "FRIEND" makes, he still has over $33,000 a year to put in the bank? You are either being lied to by your "FRIEND", or you are a liar yourself. Which is it?
