I appreciate your thoughts Turbo and also for the clarification on some questions regarding whether your app was filtered out and only met JB's hiring requirements. The site that you speak of, I am confident I know which one it is now and I can see where JB Hunt was the only one that contacted you.
In answer to your question why would I direct site visitors to go to the company website from mine? Companies pay for ads on websites, just like this site or say a magazine or newspaper. The advanatge a website has over papers and magazines is that the driver can get information regarding that company instantly. My job is to help drivers find a job efficiently, he can apply to many companies with one application, not many as in a 1000 or several 100, but if a driver comes in with more than three years clean MVR and asks for OTR, solo and has worked for the same company for more than a year, you can bet 25-30 recruiters will call him if he fills out an app and submits it to the general app pool.
Since this site is not intended for advertising, I will refrain from naming legitimate sites, but those appearing in general web searches, not paid ad sites as these can be bought( and many of these paid ad placements are legitimate, however some are misleading), then information is only used as the site's policy states. There are recruiting sites that do not operate ethically, just as there are trucking companies that don't. Some of these are large sites and they swap applications with each other to increae the number of applications they send to companies. Some of the trucking companies caught on to what was going on and confronted the recruiting sites that were doing this. Unfortunately those same companies are still doing business with the bad guys, because there is a cut throat element in recruiting.
If I see a specific need for a particular segment of drivers, then I will offer that up, the latest for drivers was for experienced truck drivers with clean mvr's, and we will see how effective that site is.
I enjoy working with the more experienced drivers( I say this emphatically, becuase I just got off the phone with a student driver who for 30 minutes told me her life story and asking why the companies she wanted to drive for wouldn't hire her). She wants to drive for Western now, but they won't hire her boyfriend, who has a recent accident while driving for another company. This is typical and is one reason many internet recruiting sites choose not to do phone applications, it is time consuming. I chose to do phone applications also, my reason for doing so was many drivers were not comfortable submitting information online. I am not saying that the sites not taking phone applications are bad people, just they chose to stick to online applications only. There are 1000s of recruiting sites out there, I am sure there are exceptions.
You are more than welcome to make recommendations on things you would like to see added to our sites. Once again thank you for your response. I forgot to mention that the larger recruiting websites that are specific to trucking(I am not familar with some of the general HR sites) charge flat rate advertising fees, same as magazines, and don[t charge per application. There are sites that sell past applications on a per app charge, but I have not done that and don't see changing that policy as too many email addresses and phone numbers change for the drivers. I also have never sold any applicants or even site visitors information to any marketing company, I am not sure what other sites do, but to me its not worth violating the trust. Legally I could sell email addresses to companies involved in the trucking industry such as trucking products or insurance services, but I have not done so and my reason is that once that information leaves your control, you can't get it back. That insurance company may turn around and sell those addresses to a marketing company or worse yet, a scam group. The only way to prevent this, is to keep the information secure.
Thanks again, hope this cleared up some of the issues.

A couple of suggestions I would offer is that you might consider listing at the very least, the name that corresponds to your phone numbers, and a physical address. A second suggestion would be to consider securing your application page(s) with encryption and certificates to also put people's minds at ease. People who can verify a physical presence independently, and who see security on a site trust doing business, or submitting information to sites that take these steps to assure that all is legitimate.
Consumer advocates continuously warn people to avoid submitting any personal information to online businesses who do not divulge a verifiable presence. Phishing schemes are routinely performed over legitimate looking websites every day.
I simply feel that in doing this, it may well increase the activity and interest in your site(s).
While I have not read of any widespread negative activity affecting the trucking industry, it may not be long before someone sees a booming business and another avenue to steal information of a potentially damaging nature. -
I doubt that OOIDA helped in any manner in getting the $30k (plus or minus) from the carrier because as the "carrier" told me 'we don't give a $%^& what you or OOIDA says' and continued to pay me a little at a time for 6 months.
You are right that OOIDA only "sold" space for advertisment, but they could have at least offered me some help or advice, which they did not. OOIDA claims that they only advertise reputable products, and while I agree that one such complaint like mine doesnt prove the product "bad", I think even a letter to the Corporation would have helped get the unit fixed at any time, instead of having the unit from NEW to OOW and it being totally worthless. Not to mention the inept "servicing" that never really did anything, but elevate my hopes and waste my time.
Yes I am still a member of OOIDA, because as I said, I believe that they help "classes" or "groups" of drivers, I think they could do much more to help the individual small trucking company that is struggling. -
I read the exchange between TurboTrucker and DieselMedia. As a former JB recruiter, I can safely say that the only people that recruit for JB are JB employees. Therefore, using Aristotelean logic, DieselMedia must be a JB employee.

Who really cares if these guys are recruiters or not? The mods do, sure. It's their site, after all. They've worked their ##### off (I see that clearly now, believe me) to make this site what it is and should call moochers on their sucker tactics.
But for us contributors, these renegade posters and their posts mean nothing, really. The only thing that matters is the fact that J.B. sucks. We're not patsies. We're not going to change our minds about those guys based on the posts of one or two lamers. Snoops, posers, imposters, fakes, whatever, are not going to fool anybody. Let 'em post. We know the truth based on what we see at J.B. terminals and from ex-driver posts here.
Let 'em pooooosstttt away until doomsday. I still won't be working for J.B. Hunt. Well, maybe the day after doomsday I will....if I find the time to. I have a lot on my plate scheduled for that day, so time will be tight. -
OH NO!...im back again. Sheesh, I hate coming back to this site, but I just keep seeing wrong information. And i hate to say it, but I kinda like you little guys.
Brake Pad....although you are kind of right that JB doesnt hire independant recruiters. Sometimes you will have people outside the company recruiting drivers. Many of us recruiters have people working for us, recruiting and prospecting leads. Personally, I have truck stop managers, truck sales people, mechanics, and many other people connected to the industry recruting for me. Maybe one of the reasons you didnt do well over here is because you didnt think to do that.
As far as the recruiting websites out there. Sheesh, so much wrong information out there....where do I start? Ok....first of all, why you would get calls from JB hunt even though you clicked you didnt want JB to get the app. Ok, although those websites will filter out emailed apps to the companies the driver clicks off....they still keep a database of those apps. So if a driver fills out an app and says dont send it to Jb, swift or whatever....that recruiter wont get the emailed app. But however, if that recruiter goes into the database of apps to look at older ones....he sees all of them. So therefore everyone gets called. Its just the way those websites are designed.
As far as jb as a company owning any recruiting websites besides the company website.....just not true. Most of us recruiters pay 1000s of dollars a year of our own money to be on those sites. Many of us own our own sites too. Those sites will not say JB hunt, although you should be able to tell its one of our sites by just reading it. The reason it doesnt say JB hunt on our personal recruiting sites IS NOT THAT WE ARE TRYING TO HIDE ANYTHING FROM YOU. The reason is because we are not allowed to use jbs logo or company information for our own personal websites.
Now...hope that clears a few things up. Somehow I dont think it will.
Now....ban away and say im lying! -
Honestly guys, this has been a fun thread and I am glad to be a part of it. But really, Ive wasted too much time out here already. So, I will leave you all to your little "mission". So, I promise, after you ban me this time, I wont be back. But remember the words of the great Donald Trump: "Even negative attention is good advertising" Keep up the great work and I promise when I get my new recruiting site up and running in a month or so, this will be the first place I pay to advertise it. Y'all have fun....CYA!

By the time they get the truth it is to late they are already sucked in by the lies you recruiters create.
Then the hell begins for that driver as he realizes what a mistake he has made, he realizes he has fallen into yet another trap from good ole JB Hunt.
P.S. Why don't you have the same resilence when it comes to treating your drivers well? Why don't you TRY and change things for the driver so drivers would see you as a good co.? -
A couple of questions. First, is JB Hunt the only driving job you have had? Second, is "company policy violation" all they put in the work record section of your DAC? DAC reports are really open to interpretation. I personally would not deny a driver employment based soley upon "company policy violation" It's way to broad and could cover anything from pet policies, to unauthorized passengers to dress codes. You stated in your original post that JB Hunt did not have your written consent to make entries into DAC. This is probaly inacurate. Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling you a liar. All I'm saying is that somwhere in the moutain of paper work that you signed in orientation you gave consent and probably didn't even realize it. There are far more effective ways to black list a driver than "company policy violation". For example;
Unsatisfactory Safety Record
Excessive Complaints
Cargo Loss
Late Pickup/Delivery
Equipment Loss
I could go on and on. If you truly applied to as many trucking companies as you say and keep getting turned down then there is more to the story.
If you would like to share that then I would be glad to offer advice on what to do. There a very few people who are completly unhireable in the industry. The bottom line is this. If a driver who has a roll over can get a job then so can you. You may just be looking in the wrong places. -
