Hello everyone I am new to the forum! I have a chance to take a dedicated run with jb hunt hauling meijer store goods out of Lansing,MI distribution center. Is there any current or ex jb hunt/meijer drivers that could answer my questions? I need all the good and bad info on this account! Thanks in advance - Chris

I have been on this account for about 2.5 years and it definately has its bad points. To avoid sounding too negative I will highlight the good first.
The Good: Good pay, I average about $1000 a week net. Insurance and 401k are both good to above average. You are paid weekly, every Thurs. Never had an issue with that. Its a job in a bad economy so that is a plus. You have a truck assigned to you. Equipment is ok.
The Bad: You don't usually start with two days off in a row, which is harder to get anything done. They will tell you something should open up in 6 months to be able to get 2 days off together, but it will more likely take a year or more. You can drive 11/on duty 14 and they will squeeze every minute of every day out of you. So if you have kid stuff, hobbies, or a life outside of that truck, it will be impossible to be involved. They routinely call you in on your day off and around most holidays they have mandatory 6 days per week and during these times no days off for vac or whatever. You do get Christmas off. The dispatchers don't have it together and routinely blame the driver for their mistakes so CYA. They will throw you under the bus to save their own. Huge lack of communication and you often don't get your backhaul information until the last minute and then they change it. Sometimes Meijers is the problem on your outbound load, sometimes its JBHunt. You will get stuck out overnight/over your shift due to routing/backhaul/weather. I usually get stuck out once a week and its not because of the weather. You will get live loads for backhauls. Its not all drop and hook.
Its a job and I need a job. But when the economy opens up a bit and there are more opportunities, it will be hard for JBHunt to keep drivers on this account. The money is good but if your priority is to spend time with your kids/wife/whoever, it is hard.
If you have any specific questions, I will try to answer them. Let me know. -
Ok..You get paid, good...Health insurance, good...401k with company match, good...
Question(s)..Is this account a 5 day out 2 day at home? Is the account listed as all drop & hook?
It sounds like there is a lack of communication with logistics, but even with the SNAFU's you are still making $1,000 a week with regular hometime.
From the outside looking in, it would appear to be a dang good truck driving job. -
Jaguar115 Thanks this.

This seems to be a long-dead thread, but are there any drivers with current knowledge of this account? They put out daily adds on Craigslist and on today's add they mentioned a sign-on bonus. I live less than 10 miles from that DC, so it's worth looking into.

I am going BACK on the meijer dedicated account this month. I left JB HUNT several years ago and was on the meijer account for almost a year. While it is stressful and rush rush constantly you do get your 10 hours off and work the full 14 every single day you are out. The two days off was something that is often not together though now with the new rules on the 34 hour restart not sure how that will end up working out. They are strict on logging and play by the rules as far as logging as you do it. The money was very consistent and their insurance was and probably still is about the best around,, I am coming back if that tells you anything. I need stability and most jobs do not offer that right now in Michigan area.

I've been at it for almost 2 months now, and I'd say the good outweighs the bad. The guys that work the night shifts have 2 days off in a row, but I start at 6 in the morning, so I don't have to have 2 consecutive days to get a reset. Needless to say, my days off are not consecutive. As much as I'd like 2 days in a row, I'd rather sleep at the same time as my wife and kids. All of my loads are to the Chicago area, which is always a joy. I'm stuck out less than once a week, which off-sets Chicago in the pros/cons. My first few weeks, I slept in the truck once every week, always because of a delay at a live load. The last 2 weeks I've been home every night. Today I made a 500 mile round trip in under 12 hours and I'm home in time for dinner and a movie with the family. I had 2 consecutive 600 mile days last week, and both round trips were completed legally with a 62mph truck! The money doesn't really compare to what I made when I was running Dollar General loads, but watching my daughter grow up is worth more than money.
Lonesome and Buffalonytrucker92 Thank this. -
So it says you make 1030 a week is that true and is the 2225 bonus for real????
