Most companies do this. Google :truck driver jobs & you will see. It's cheaper for companies to outsource the recruiting. That's why on many job applications the question is asked,"how did you learn about this company?" Could be phone call, magazine, TV, radio, etc. The companies want to know which method is most effective for the money.

I should've asked "are you a recruiter that gets paid on commission to lie to drivers, or do you purposely do it just so you can collect your commission after I pull my first load"?
-
I drove for 17 years. Was forced into retirement because I nearly lost my life to a brown recluse spider. I am happy with my life and yes, I am a recruiter. I get paid when the driver leaves the yard with his first load. BUT...I can tell you that there has been many times when I couldn't get a driver hired and have given him other names of companies that I don't work for. I could care less if I get paid or not. I like what I do and I don't lie to ANY driver, because I know how I would feel if it were done to me. And if I lied to these guys, they have my number to call me and b**** me out if the job wasn't what I told them. And I have yet to have anyone call me for those reasons. I actually have drivers call me just to talk because they are STILL with the company I got them hired onto. I work for 53 different companies which gives me many options for these drivers. I get paid a commission to hire drivers in the right job, NOT to lie to them. If I were fresh out of college and claim to know it all, then I would say "yes" you have a legitimate complaint.
Professional-Trucker and snowman01 Thank this. -
So yea, you have a job to do and that's cool, but these guys up here need to get their act together. i just went on and quit. Not because the job was bad, but because i was lied to and taken advantage of. -
And I have heard this by drivers, and whether or not it costs me a pay, I tell them straight up that they need to discuss these with the recruiter and the issues of it. I also told them to mention it in orientation and make it aware to other drivers that are there. That's where these trucking companies are not getting it when they see their driver turn over so large. The sad thing is, they will ask what the problem is, see that the turn over is high, shrug their shoulders and say "run the ad". They claim that cases like yours and others are because when you guys have a "dedicated" run. The need to have the other end ready for you to come back the same route and I often have asked, why have a "dedicated" run if it's not. They claim you will always be able to schedule your time because you know when you will be home. They lie and I understand that. But, if it's going to cost me my pay, I don't care because drivers are told these situations on my end. I've been told I go above and beyond for drivers too much....I don't think so, I was a driver and treat others the same.

No wonder they keep calling me. I didn't even apply for their crappy positions in the first place! What a joke of a company.
