I don't know what kind of, "cush" job you have but I do know that," DAC in which you think is a joke," CAN and WILL keep a driver from getting a GOOD job if a company checks it!!

time for me to share my hunt story.

i worked for them for about 6 months, everything was going smooth as expected.. the miles kinda sucked but eh.. whatever - it was a job and the truck was decent.

One day i was making a drop to the dollar general in zanesville ohio, i just pulled in their driveway and my low air warning comes on - my breaks are halfway on, but i can still move so i put my trailer in a door and sent a message explaining that i made the drop but my breaks are half on and my low air warning is on.

they respond by sending me a load that goes from the columbus terminal to loredo - YES miles!! but what about my air situation in zanesville?

"take it to the columbus terminal and have it fixed"

....im no genius (as apparent by my spelling) but zanesville and columbus really arnt all that close to one another.

but, fine, not my truck...so i manage to get an MT and make my way down the highway with that high pitch beep goin on and my breaks dragging (makes shifting a real b####!!!)

i get to the shop at aprox 4pm they got my truck into a bay and proceded to chew me out for driving all that way with brakes half on (the hubs was GLOWIN when i got there ;) )

whatever dude.. just fix my truck right?

turns out i have compressor issues and they need to replace it, cool.

except, the shop closes at 6pm

WTF? how can you have trucks and not have MAIT. 24/7??

fine.. whatever.. i call my FM, sayin "hey umm.. these guys are leaving and locking the doors and my truck is still in there...and they wont let me sleep in my truck....i need a hotel"

"go ahead and get one, get a recipt and we will pay you back"

at that moment i was broke as a joke and i told her so.....and this is the responce i got - i s### you not

"well i dont know what to tell you then, but im done for the day and im going home"

    !!!!!!!

its january and one of the codest days of the year!

so before the shop closes i get my coat and a few things rounded up.

at first i found a coffee can and some busted chunks of pallet laying arround in the yard, then i found a trailer that i knew wasnt goin anywhere (bashed up nose) cralled up into the back of it, made me a bum-fire and shivered for a few hours pretending to sleep in the trailer floor

at about 4am i had had enough - so i found a trade truck that had the keys in it, crawled up into it and started it. slept in the bunk for two and a half hours until the shop opend up again and a mechanic opens the door and starts givin me hell for bein in that truck.

immediatly i told him to F-off then told him the situation - luckily he got the point and said he would have done the same.

my truck got fixed around 2:30pm that day.

i get back up in it and im gettin verbally assulted by my FM for being so late on that load that was suposed to go to Laredo.

    again WTF???

i quit 10 days later because no one could seem to figure out that i wasnt kidding when i said my IFTA sticker was out of date and i needed a new one.. then they couldnt figure out where the sticker was...- then i get pulled on a scale for it and the dude tells me he will let me go this time but get it updated....

i did some local work but then got layed off and decided to give hunt another try.. went through the orientation and when it got time to find me a truck - yeah took them 3 days, they called me back and say "ok.. rent a car in youngstown ohio.. drive it to east roadchester ny.. drop it off at the airport.. rent ANOTHER car and drive it to some airport in Vermont - drop that one off at the airport then call the driver and arrange for him to come get you at the airport and then bring you to his home to get the truck"

a "repo" job if i ever heard one...

i replied with " *laughter* you really think im going to do that?"

on a side note - one nice thing about the huntster is they allowed me to park the trailer at their little drop yard in Niles ohio and bobtail the 20 or so miles to my home in Salem - that was, once in 6 weeks that i got to go home....

yoda says : "work for the hunt that is jb you do not..."

Sounds like JB %unt is a true nightmare! I almost can't believe what I've been reading! I would have sued them for first of all, putting a phone call on my DAC. After all, it's just hearsay, not necessarily fact. Glad I turned down an offer of employment with JB *unt just last week! It was via one of those mass application things where they send off your app. to many different companies at the same time. A ways back, someone who didn't like Swift trucks, called them and said I tossed a beer can out of my truck in front of a Walmart DC. Yeah, right! What truck driver would throw a beer can out of the window in traffic, at 10:00am, while pulling in to the DC?? Even the most dedicated alcoholic would wait 'til they were parked at night and discreetly throw their beer can in a trash can. As far as I know, that "preventable incident"(as per the JB Hunt driver's post), wasn't put on my DAC. Unbelievable stories! (almost)

I was talking to a JB driver just the other day as he was picking up a load at our DC and I asked him how he liked JB. I got the usual negative answer. This driver had gotten into a "lease" program with them and it has basically bankrupted him. He was planning on turning in his truck when he gets back to the terminal.
I try to be open minded about a company, "figuring disgruntled former drivers", but, when you hear so many complaints about the same company I begin to believe there is probably some truth in it all. I don't believe leasing is a wise decision at this time "with the sour economy and all," and especially I wouldn't deal with JB Hunt.

I got hurt on the job while working for J. B. Hunt in 2001 they gave a chargeable accident on me and also fired me. How can they give me a chargeable acciddent while the truck and trailer in a dock with the key's hanging on the hook and the trailer lock in the dock getting unloaded. I had to reload a pallet of budweiser cause one had fall over. After all said and done I got a lawer and suited J. B. Hunt. Talk to a union driver's in your state they have good lawer's that will help you. That's what I had to do and get your own Doctor as well.
