Question though, when doing the exercises, is there a break in between the different exercises? or is it one after another, back to back, no break provided?DocRox Thanks this. -
Well I guess since I can not sleep I will answer the questions about the ERGO test since I have done the thing twice and laughed about it I will explain what it is, why they do it and what JBS Ergo comprises of.
OK Ergo is not only to see if you are fit, When you first go into the room to do the test, they will measure your flexibility in your arms, shoulders, neck, legs, hips and calves how they do this is simple science. It is to see if you have nerve damage, and what not. The Whole big deal is simply this, the examiner inputs your range of motion, lets say you have a 90% range of motion in your right knee you get into an accident, and you lose another 30%, OK With the baseline set in the ergo test you will now be able to get a disability percentage, and if you are permanently disabled they have a baseline to base your disability on for insurance purpose's. This majority of the ergo is for insurance purpose's, the other part is for physical qualification.
After you do the range of motion part you go into another room, you will be hooked up to a chest band which measures your heartbeat, they take your weight, height and age and come up with this Body Mass Index, and it has a formula which predicts how high your heart rate can get for instance, my BMI allows for a maximum heart beat of 163 beats per minute, then you will perform some exercise task, and they will monitor the heartbeat thingy wrapped around your chest, and the watch thing you have on your arm.
You will step up on a single step for one minute,
You will pick up 15 lbs 3 times from the ground to waist level, and progress to 90lbs,
then you will take a break, and pick it up from waist level to Shoulder level 3 times starting at 15lbs to 45 lbs, you get a break then walk a bar 45 lbs ( i think) about 100ft and turn come back and set it down, then you grab the heavier one do the same, you stop take a break they check your pulse after every exercise.
Then you will pull on a deal that measures how hard, then you push the same thing each time you do it 3 times.
It is very simple and as long as you have a good BP and are not a sissy you will do fine, we had a 57 Year old Grandmother do this, and she was not uhh slim little woman. She did it no problem at all, if you have had any medical surgeries such as knee replacement, hip or anything that limits your ability to move DISCLOSE THIS TO YOUR RECRUITER< THEY will instruct you to get the proper letters from your DR. Before you come to Orientation.
JBS DOES Not Discriminate against any drivers, as long as you are able to complete the required task you will be fine.
JBS Does a BMU Measurement, and they measure your neck to see if you need to do sleep apnea testing now, this is a company policy and not a DOT policy. If you are required to do so you have 6 months to do the sleep test, WAIT till you have insurance 90 days and get it done lol.
I am a short truck driver, who does not fingerprint freight, and did the ERGO no problem, and I smoke 2 packs a day BP fine I was good to go. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS that you will not pass the ERGO ask your recruiter and discuss it with them.
IF YOU HAPPEN TO FAIL THE ERGO they will get you home the same way you came.
IF YOU FAIL THE DRUG TEST wish you lots of luck and you are a ####### for showing up with dirty piss.BigRo, MD STEELERS FAN, SinCityDude and 4 others Thank this. -
Harleymanjax,
Guess what I am doing till Wednesday my ### is going to get real sore lol, I have to take these taters to the same place that other driver did.... AMAZING to me you could have done it and still gone to bama taters would not sit for 3 days in trailer, I would be in a HOTEL instead of babysitting a trlr loaded with taters, and you would have gotten an extra 100 miles lol not to mention the beer money I would have given you -
So far JBS has benn on the up and up, flew him out to Co. put him up in a single room(thats pretty good because he wasnt to keen on sharing a room with someone he didnt know) First day DOT physical and driving test, Breakfast from the hotel was just OK but lunch was pizza and he said pretty good. Second day they have about an 8 hour orientation. Called all excited as the truck he took his test in was a 2011 peterbilt the others were 2009 and 2010 Kenworth's. So all the trucks looked good. Hes hoping that he will be on the road by Thursday, We live in Florida so at the least we are hoping he will get home at least once a month, until I retire in a year and a hlf and then I will be with him so looking forward to a great experience with JBS.
123456 and The Challenger Thank this. -
Again, many thanks to you guys for answering my questions pertaining to the ergo.
Take it easy out there, Safe driving.DocRox and DocHoliday Thank this. -
BigRo,
The woman I made reference to Teams with her Husband, they are a very nice couple and let me tell you She is one of them Mom's who did not have Time out in her vocabulary. While I was doing the 2nd round of orientation I got one of the Worst headaches I have ever had in my life, and she told me(not suggested) that I had to drink a cup of coffee. I am not a coffee drinker but when she told me too, I said Yes Ma'am and did it.
The Ergo flips out a lot of people because the people who come on here and talk negative about it are way out of shape.
They are the people you see walking across the lot that if they lost some weight the could actually make it farther than 50 feet without having to catch their breath.
Florida Girl made reference the other day to there being a lot of negative on here, and I can only say this the people who make the negative remarks are one POST posters, just look at my post on here and uhh look at the number of post I don't just get in this thread either.
And if you would like to see the mile, money and what not There are plenty of post in the JBS forums, that show my checks, miles etc. And right now My ### is sitting in Baldwin Florida doing a 34 reset and to think I came out of the house Last Wednesday morning, ran hard 3900+ miles in 6 days so here I sit waiting to run again. The Challenger, Jarhed1964, BigRo and 2 others Thank this. -
