I have gotten about 20 phone calls yesterday while I was out fishing, and My Email is nuts over this "new Change" but according to what I am hearing (I am waiting to confirm) The New President has been with JBS for over 20 years and does have time in the Trucking Industry. As JBS Has a huge operation in South America, Australia, Brazil. New Zealand, Europe and Asia. ( Knew about Australia and Brazil not the others) So Mike Eastwood was chosen by the owners (JR and Michael Jose Bautista Sobrino for those who still think JBS Stand For Something else it is the Initials of the old man.) I heard that Jr. and Michael have been at the Greeley yard a lot lately so hopefully with change comes positive things also.

Just a note for the Politically correct JBS Josely Bautista Sobrinho Jose is short and not the full name of The Founder of JBS. Wesley Bautista is the CEO of JBS USA Operations, Jr. And Michael are also officers of the Company who live in Greeley Colorado. just to clarify for the person who sent me the Private Message you are right.

I am trying to find out more like who else will be leaving, considering the new Operations Manager came with Mo Schroter I am wondering if he will stay and if Mo is retiring or was asked to leave. No Answers as of yet I am waiting to hear from some people in Greeley and over at Promotory Circle . I will let you all know what I hear or find out and share what you have heard or know.

:biggrin_2551:I have been driving for 20 years, 15 of them for JBS's biggest competition,I am scheduled for orientation for Sept. 12th. I was wondering if anyone can tell me what their average length of haul is, and how the wait times are at their plants, now mind you I have been in the meat business a long time so I know the b.s that goes with it. Also was interested in training and was wondering how long you have to be there before you can. I have 2.75 million safe driving miles without any citations or bad DOT inspections.Any help or words of wisdom from current drivers would be appreciated,I put a lot of thought into this change and just need some response.

I don't currently work for JBS Carriers, but I enjoy following this thread and the adventures of those who do drive for the company. FWIW and to just add to Doc's post, here is some additional information regarding Jose Batista Sobrinho: "the old man," or "Ze Mineiro" as he is known in some Brazilian circles.

His three sons; Jose, Joesley and Wesley appear to all have major roles in the company's US operations. Their pictures can be seen by opening the attachment at the bottom of this post. I don't see anyone named Michael listed in their US list of executives (scroll down for biographies), although with the recent changes previoulsy mentioned that is perhaps not surprising.

A very recent August 15, 2011, Reuters article provides some interesting insights into JBS operations and may offer some rationale for the management changes. JBS just recently posted a $114 million loss for the second quarter of this year, down 41.2 percent from the same period the year before. The current 52 week return on JBS stock would have yielded a dismal -46.503%. Considering that as of two years ago the family owned 44% of the stock, one can readily appreciate their efforts to make corrections as they deem necessary. Those following this TTR thread are well aware of JBS's investment in fine new equipment, but what is not so easily seen here are the massive worldwide acquisitions in animal protein production. It's worth noting this comment from the same Reuters article referenced above: "Analysts have warned that JBS leveraged itself heavily during a buying spree over the past five years and if global meat prices fall the company could face problems servicing its debt given tight profit margins seen recently."

My daughter and her family just returned from spending several months in Sweden and Denmark (both my wife and son-in-law have dual citizenship in Denmark), and as insulated from the world wide recession as the Scandinavian countries may have been in the past, they are beginning to feel the pinch now. Given JBS's world wide presence as an animal protein producer, hopefully we can all still afford to buy meat.

On a more positive note, an analyst in an online poultry/agriculture industry magazine offered these encouraging words:
"JBS is likely to continue expanding geographically across the globe and investing in proteins. Look for JBS to discover Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa as well as aquaculture. Gustavus Swift broke the trail one hundred years ago, but Jose Batista is barreling through in an 18-wheeler."

I was sweating bullets trying to get to the Flying J in Tulsa after spending 2 days driving on all backroads!....................lol

FYI, the walmart in Ochelata, OK has truck parking right across the street and there is a Cherokee Casino with truck parking at the next exit!

I wish I would have known about this, I wouldn't have spent the night in Tulsa!

My appt was at 6am, I was out of here by 6:30!
