Well as of next week I have exactly 1 year of OTR so if JBS dont straighten up real quick I will have more opportunities to go elsewhere, I would really like to find something local or at least regional and home every weekend!

    DocRox Thanks this.

no i havent. but i figure since the other guy here is from florida and getting back home to florida seems impossible. that maybe he should look into a florida based company. i just know from my own experiences tankers have alot less issues. this is my second job pulling reefers and its no better then the first time i did it. so im about to give up on reefers. i have nothing to say bad about pulling tankers. i know it takes a different kind of driver to deal with the tank but its a much easier job to deal with. if i could get back with my old tanker company, i would be gone from here in a heartbeat. we got paid for everything. from pre and post trip to unloading and loading and any time the truck wasnt moving i was being paid hourly. none of this BS on giving shippers and receivers 4 hrs of my time, and just before the economy took a dump i made 93k in 2005. then the economy took a nose dive and the comapny let go the guys that made too much money. i was actually told the reason i was being let go was i made too much money as a company driver. dont get me wrong that was a great company and i know theres alot more bad companies, dont matter if they are tank reefer or flatbed.

i have tanker and hazmat on my license as well as a passport. so im able to do about anything. i have liquid experience as well as pnumatics tanks. i have done heavy haul of liquid tanks pulling 112,000 pounds (gasoline) so i know what im worth. and im not sure if im a great fit here at jbs.
the funny thing was i was in greely over the halloween weekend, that monday i was told by my old fleet manager, that she was asked by the higher ups if i was worth keeping, she apparently told them yea. and so im still here.
and yet jbs wants to become the elite fleet. i dont see this ever happening. in order to become the best they gotta have drivers that dont want to leave. and why do drivers want to leave? lack of miles and lack of pay. up till i got relocated to my new fleet my miles were in the toilet. and the lack of pay come from giving up 4 hrs at the shipper or receiver. and when you get held up after that 4 hrs u gotta fight to get paid, even though its easier now. but even at $10.00/hr thats not going to cut it

Look man, I pulled a reefer for 7 years and finally got fed up with long load and unload times, and waiting for the product to be ready. I don't miss it, and it will be a cold day in hell, bofore I would pull areefer again.
If you have a year under your belt and have a clean record, there are other jobs out there.....even if you live in Florida.
