That is one of the best places to live for tanker jobs. With all the refining going on in southern Texas there is no doubt that you can find a job. Not to mention the previous experience that you have being a tanker yanker. One of my close friends lives in souther Texas and drives for one of the big outfits. He's pulling down 110k a year hauling crude.

Still no load, and sadly I dont expect one till Monday!

Came down to the TA at exit 4........I'll be ###### if I'm gonna spend all weekend at a rest area!

What really pisses me off is I should be having fun with my girl at the racetrack all weekend but instead I'm stuck in NEW JERSEY with nothing to do but think.............not a good thing right now!

There is something that I have always found interesting about the proposition of more miles. The two largest complaints from OTR drivers is wanting more miles and more/guaranteed home time. I agree with the home time, but why would we want to work even more hours and harder than we already work to obtain more miles making the same amount per mile than we already do? How about more pay per mile with the same amount of miles that are already being ran? I can only speak for myself but I would rather see a pay increase per mile than have to work even longer hours working harder to make more money. I would imagine that there are others out there that would much rather see an increase in mileage pay than to have to work more than they already do. More mileage does mean more money to the driver but also means more time away from home. Just an idea there. :)

you are right, more miles isnt the issue, but a increase of pay would solve this problem as well as the company coming up with a better way of detention pay. that thing of giving 4 hrs on each side is a huge waste of my time and it takes away from my potential of being able to make money. i have a friend still pulling tankers, hes now up to .52 per mile when the truck is rolling and when the truck stops no matter what it maybe everything from pre and post trip, fueling, breakdown, loading and unloading, any time the truck stop for any reason minus sleep hes paid $22/hour

    DocRox and Jynxx Thank this.

anyone knows what this means? trying to figure out what it means towards pay
"Competitive Pay (.40 per ml x2, plus .23 cents per barrel once you are in your own truck; increases to .24 per barrel after 60 days)"

Not my problem if the dm has more on his plate than they can handel. my job is to drive the truck from point A to B, with what ever stops inbetween. his or her job to me is keep me moving, period. I ask, then what good is sending in a pta every morning to inform the dm when i am avaible for next load? I understand being busy. Doc as you said you have been with him since day 1, you have a bit more clout, low man on the pole gets the pointy end. My view only. :biggrin_2551:
