why do drivers think 2500 miles in 7 days is good? you are setting around doing nothing more than you are working, and that setting is at shippers, receivers, and truckstops, not at home.

Ok that's how YOU feel. Not everyone has to break their backs running 3500 miles every week to pay bills. Some of us like the relaxed pace. I personally have a sweet spot of 2000 miles a week. It pays the bills and puts money in my pocket.

 

3500 miles in 7 days is NOT breaking any speed records, or limits, and is very easy to do. Can easily be done in 6 days, then reset and spend a day away from the truck. I was very relaxed doing 3000 to 3500 miles per week, and still taking days off to see the locals. At 2000 miles a week as an OTR driver, that is less than 40 hours of driving in 7 days, that leaves 128 hours of setting around at shippers and receivers.

If that is the way you want to live, in a truck away from home making just enough to pay the bills, that is your choice. Not for me. I was away from home to make money, not just to get by.

 

Did you completely disregard what I said? It pays my bills, and puts money in my pocket. How is that just making enough to pay bills?

This wouldn't be a problem for anyone if they stopped living higher than their income.

 

2500 miles a week is pretty good for reefer work, especially if you are live loading. You can sit for HOURS AND HOURS waiting around at places. That was my experience with it. Personally I don't know why they don't pay more cpm for it. Food is a necessity, unlike hauling around paper or a load of toys for Wal Mart.

 

Paper isn't a necessity? Ask yourself that next time your sitting on a toilet and have an empty roll of charmin
