I don't see them giving any new trucks to newbies anytime soon. The new trucks will be auto though. Current trucks are 10 speed petes and 9 speed kenworths. Training is going to suck because your with another person that's pretty much your teacher/boss that can make you feel like your really learning or that your a bozo and don't belong in a truck lol. Either way it really doesn't take to long as you will be driving most of the time. I had two trainers and both only drove 1 day each out of 15k or more miles. If for some reason you cant stand your trainer they may let you get a different one but that prolongs the process of getting trained and the 2nd may be worse so be smart on your decision if that comes up. The physical is no problem, nothing to be worried about unless you have an issue that I don't know about. I brought 2 duffel bags and another big bad which is kind of a lot but if I did it you can do it. The bags will be in the bed you sleep in so keep that in mind, not much room and you will be carrying it from the airport and what not. orientation is easy and slow so once again just another process to get started.
If your trainer doesn't like you or you feel he may not like you he can try and get you fired so remember that. Keep your seatbelt on even when hitting a dock just don't give him a reason to have it out for you and your good to go. it will be over before you know itTrucker Bamm Thanks this. -
Thank you a lot army guy. That info is all very good know. I get along with any an everyone and I take criticism and directions very well. I'm gonna so everything by the book and kiss as much butt as I have too. How long did you have to train for week wise ?
-
about 6 weeks but that was also 2 years ago. I really don't think much has changed though.

the ergonomics test is not that big of a deal as long as your not winded to much on doing easy task. they watch your heart rate as you do simple task.your heart rate needs to stay below a certain range. when i started with them the sleep study was just coming into play. i think they make drivers do one if your neck size is 17 or over.

I'm not worried to much about anything physical.

JBS Carriers south east regional is dead... flatlined... only thing left is the local dedicated and that may be gone soon. Most all drivers on south east region were terminated. some went to the local side. rumor has it that oakwood is on life support and may shut down completely. Be very careful if any body is considering employment with this company.
