Hubby is considering JBS at this time. Can anyone help with some questions re: orientation???

    1) We heard they fly you out to Greeley... True?
    2) Room in a single by yourself or with a roomie?
    3) What is this "ergo" I hear about?
    4) I see lots of JBS newbies posting about going out with a trainer. Do ALL new hires have to do this or only inexperienced drivers? Hubby has over 2 million miles behind him and would not be comfortable with having to do time with a trainer!
    5) How often, truthfully, can he expect to get home? We're in SW FL by the way...
    6) I've seen talk of issues with payroll and getting things paid like layover/breakdown pay. Is it a big hassle or just something you need to watch and see it actually hits the check?
    7) Pay is biweekly, yes? 1st and 15th or actual biweekly? When's the next payday? I'm a teacher and we get paid biweekly... It would be nice if HIS biweekly and MY biweekly were on opposite weeks!! LOL That way we'd get somebody's check every week...if you know what I mean!

Any help and advice is more than welcome! I'm new here and looking around for more info on JBS. We like to go into these things with our eyes and ears open!
    Thanks,
    Mrs B

    1.yes they fly you out.
2.you most likely will have a roomie but its only 3-4 days
3.If he is expirenced No he will get a truck right away. Does he know how to use Qualcom?
4.Minimum time out is 2weeks you also get 10 days paid vacation that you can take anytime after orinetation. you get the pay after 1yr.
5.there good about paying it but common sense tells me to check it and document it. CYA cover your ace
    6. yes pay is direct deposit every other friday.

I am getting conflicting reports on the training situation of a new hire out of a CDL Training School.
Is it 6 weeks training and if the trainer feels your ready, signs you off early and get your own truck and go.
Now I am hearing 6 weeks + 2 weeks as a team manditory?
    TIA

Six and two now but that may change with the loss of trainers they have had.

If your new its 8 weeks the trainer doesn't control it. He writes a report everyday that you also sign off on it. I was one of the last ones to get the six week deal. After you finish with your trainer you do a final drive test then you get your truck. I've been with them since april and I Like to work here. Great health insurance.

I would like to add this!!!! Doesn't matter what their training schedule is however it's 4 weeks out, home, 4 weeks out as of 08/28/11.......You will be well advised to do whatever it takes to come to J.B.S. carriers as you will hear everything you want to hear from all other companies, at J.B.S. you will be treated with respect and honesty....BUT you must remember, recruiters are recruiters and J.B.S. is trying to eliminate any and all recruiters who tend to sugarcoat things here..... J.B.S. is the most honest and respectful company you as a student, or as a seasoned vet will ever find in todays industry....

I say, suck it up no matter what you have to do as you will be disappointed if you don't.... jmho
