I had a JC Penney 23 channel radio back in the day, I can't remember what model. Seems to me it was manufactured by either Royce or Uniden and it was a pretty good radio. I kept it for years until I got a Cobra 40 ch.

I've got two JC Penney "Pinto" 23 channel bases. Both work like new putting out 4 watts dead key and 12 watts swing. Got one for free... the other for 5 bucks at a hamfest advertised as not working, but cleaning the channel selector fixed it. I use them to monitor the Petro and Pilot truck stop activity a few miles away on ch 19. 4 pin cobra mics work well with them. I've heard the old JC Penney radios can be peaked and tuned to really talk, but I haven't tried yet.

That's an old but very good radio. Unlike the new ones the 6218 has many internal adjustments which if misused could get someone in trouble with the FCC for using very excessive power.
