Jeff Foster/ Halvor lines Roehl

Never heard anything bad about Halvor. They just opened a new terminal in South Bend In, and are looking to hire drivers there. But, other than saying that they pull vans, I don't have much info on them. They use an off brand of truck (KW) LOL!!!

 

Unfortunately for you, you aren't in a good place to find a lot of trucking jobs. Whether the leave it at the terminal rule is a problem is based on how you run. If you are out 3 weeks and then home for a few days, that's not too bad. if you get home twice a week, it's a long drive. They probably don;t have much freight in your area, and that always has an effect on taking the truck home.

 

Hi Caz, have you looked into anything local there? I know somebody has a trucking company next door to Bosk, in Escanaba. There is John Verhallia in Marrinette and Joy in Peshtigo.
I haven't heard much bad about Reohl and I think they have a yard in Iron Wood, MI.
You could always try Big Orange just south.
Are the landings iced in yet or can a guy still get a boat out up there? Bye the way You live in my favorite place in the world!!!!!!!!!!

 

Halvor Lines is pretty good. I have a couple of buddies working there. I would be working there if they offered a 7/7 trainer deal like Roehl does. I think they only hire experienced drivers though. I would stay away from Foster. They don't pay well. But if you like more freedom and some say in what loads you get it might be worth it. I know some guys who took big pay cuts to work at Foster instead of Roehl. They wanted to run how they wanted and not play by the rules. Its not worth it to me to take a 10 cent pay cut though.
Roehl has a terminal in Iron Mountain not Ironwood. Nice flatbed loads out of there. Also haul van loads out of Mead in Escanaba. Honestly, if you live in Escanaba I would check out Roehl. There are a lot of options out of the IM yard. I don't starve for miles. I've been there over nine years so they can't be to bad.

 

Thats what they told me too. I'm getting 42 cpm at Roehl, not going to work for 32. There is some kind of crazy per diem that only they can figure out. So it is actually more than 32cpm. I would still go with Halvor instead. If you need training I would go with Roehl.
