caz, I live in nw wisconsin so most of the truckers I know drive for one of the three. i have never worked for foster but i looked into them. i know 4 guys who work there. one of my best friends drove for halvor. he tried to get into roehl but had too many tickets. i looked into both halvor and foster because superior is closer than marshfield. I found out I had a pretty good deal at roehl. roehl only slip seats if you do the hometime fleets (7/7 14/7 7/4/7/3) If you do national or regional its only you in the truck. if you want to be home every weekend you could do regional out of Iron Mountain. If the load goes thru your house you can take the truck home. probably would have to park the truck in iron mountain for maintenance sometimes. they have a nice big garage there that you can park the truck inside for winter time.
IMO 1. Roehl, 2. Halvor 3. Foster
Jeff Foster/ Halvor lines Roehl

Caz, you mentioned your stuff, i have read where alot of the Company's will not allow inverters. better check with whoever you choose if they allow!!
-
Does Rohel let you have inverters? As of right now Roehl seems to be my # 1 pick then Foster. Halvor needs 240 hours of school in order to drive for them with on experience. Which means I would have to go to school for 2 months. Anymore help would be appreciated.

Hey Caz,
All the guys I know that drive for Halver bring thier tucks home with them, including my neighbor. I know they like to hire experienced drives or they will hire out of the tucking school in Eden Prairie WI.
Thats why I went with Monson Trucking out of Duluth. I start school there on Jan 2. They start you out at .32 and than bump you up to .36 after 90 days, they also have good benifits. I posted all of them in one of my other threads once, so any way you should check them out maybe you can still get in to be at school in Jan if you already have your permit and all that..

Sorry Caz I did'nt see you have been a truck driver for 18 years guess you won't be needing school
Hope I did'nt offend

My uncle drives for Halvor lines out of Superior. He really likes it. He said you always get decent trucks and they treat you better then a lot of companies. My girlfriend and I would like to drive team for them but she has an accident on her record. They require a 3 year clean driving record. For now we are going with Werner, but if we don't like it we'll switch in the future.

Hope this clears up a couple of points about Roehl. If you run on the 7/7 or 7/3 7/4 program you will share a truck with one or two other drivers. However if you elect to go to the National fleet you will not be slipseating, and will take your truck home on days off. This is the way it was six months ago,and unless they have changed things it should still be that way. I have read a lot of good stuff about Roehl on this sight, and I drove for them up until May of this year.I found them to be a very good company to drive for. Did I have any problems? Yes a couple, but nothing that couldnt be cleared up with a phone call to my dispatcher,or fleet mgr. I was on the 7/7 program, and my miles were always up there.I averaged around 3200 miles in my 7 days out. That is about max.if you are running a legal logbook. And yeah your gonna hear some of these interstate cowboys claiming they are running 5000 plus miles a week, but they are a bunch of dreamers.Another thing to say about Roehl is they pay practical miles rather than the Household movers guide miles. This makes a lot of difference on how many miles you are actually paid for.And yeah there are some drivers who will never be able to drive for anyone and be satisfied. Its a new life and you have to adapt.

Roehl allows inverters up to 1000 watts, but they must install it. They charge $150 for installation in your first truck, I believe it's $85 if you switch trucks and need it moved.
