Jerney hitches a ride as big rigs converge on Rotorua

Jerney Ryder may be a 6-year-old girl but when she grows up she wants to be a truckie.

Her passion for big rigs grew at the weekend when trucks from all over the North Island took part in two events in Rotorua.

On Saturday Mainfreight Big Rig Truck Rides was held at Ngongotaha Primary School. For Jerney there was no better place to be. She joined more than 200 other children who took the opportunity to get up close and take a ride on the big rigs.

Jerney said when she grew up she hoped to own and operate a truck.

"I think they are cool and real shiny.
