That seems kind of odd that it depends on the load...Do you know before you are offered the load or after you accept it what any detention pay will be ? How and when do you know this ?

Finishing up first part of training with Jim Palmer. Coolant driver, no interest in lease as of now. Asked otr but would prefer to stay West of Mississippi personally though to be honest doesn't much matter where they send me as chances are I'll just take home time eventually in Montana and maybe get residency up here.
From what I understand you wouldn't know what detention would be until you get there and would need it and that would be a conversation between you and your fleet manager. But also seems not needed to too often at least from speaking with drivers. If you do come here for your CDL you really really need to be a self starter. Classes are small, 5 people that's it, and you only get 2 chances to get your permit or cdl, so you gotta be prepared. We sadly lost a guy today because he forgot to set his brakes before getting out of the truck and walked away from it.
All my contacts say Jim Palmer. From what I'm told the main difference is jp really doesn't go east to much and Wilson doesn't go west to much though both can. Wilson's terminal is down in Missouri. I specifically asked for montana though since I've never seen the state before and I want to learn how to deal with snow, mountains, and i80 winds in Wyoming.. I'd say if you want to know more give them a call. Really nice people and a small ish fleet at Jim Palmer (200 trucks) do it seems everyone knows everyone out there and keeps close. I may know more next week if I get out on the road. I know there is a slight delay with that as many trainers are on hometime so there's a backlog of 3 still from the class the week beforeBluedew and BlueThunderr Thank this. -
