I can guarantee that you guys are not going to have a problem getting a driving job! The problem you will have is sorting through all the BS and actually finding a decent company! I highly urge you to steer (no pun intended) toward the smaller companies. If you steer clear of the mega-carriers your problems will be greatly reduced and your chances of success will be greatly higher. Its not easy finding a good carrier to drive for right off the bat but once again I guarantee it can be done!
Its easy-peasy getting a job with a mega-carrier, as long as you breathing and are currently incarcerated they will send you a prehire letter. The good companies or the ones worth driving for are going to take effort. They typically don't advertise because their drivers are happy driving for them and their turnover rate is substantially lower. You must go after them, fill out an app and usually place several follow up calls. Try checking Craigslist everyday. I have seen lots of good gigs posted on there. Also here is another site that will help you find the smaller companies in your area:

I am in Florida also, applied to Werner during my CDL school time, got the pre hire and set up an orientation date at the Lakeland terminal....was all set, then my recrueiter asked a "few final questions"....one was "do you have any convictions for drug posession ?" I figured I was already good with these guys having filled out an ap. weeks before...so I told her I had been arrested for drug posesion when I was a kid back in 1987, she asked waht kind of drugs and I told her Cocaine...BANG...that was the end...she said sorry we can't help you and hung up...I called back and spoke to another recruiter and they verified that was company pollicy and there were no exsemptions.I had been on tons of blogs and forums and had neard nothing like this...I'm sure if I just did'nt say anything they would not have found it..(1987..on the other side of the country)...so beware what you say out there.....if your my age and was around in the 70s and 80s you may want to forget alot of your history...good luck
