March 23, 2018 will be my third year with my starting company. They've treated me well so far and I don't see that changing anytime soon. And unless I start getting interested in hauling liquids, there isn't another local company that runs nice Peterbilt equipment for me to move to.

I'm out 5-6 days at a time and home on "weekends" (the good trips usually leave Saturday or Sunday). I get 10 cpm premium for each mile past 5000 per bi-weekly period and since I've been a yes man forever, should always be on the list of "who do we have who can get this big run done?" I'm always willing to try going somewhere new, I thrive on adventure.

I just got out of the training part of the hiring process and can attest to this. I don't understand some drivers. Companies LOVE to reward loyalty (they'll buy you a brand new truck if you ask nicely).

My guess is those sign-on bonuses. People frustrated with their current pay situation see bigger cpm and $3,000-5,000 in cash for signing up and hop on it regardless of anything else.

First off sorry about the loss of your father in law.Secondly I can relate to your pain.I've had so many trucking jobs probably more right after training and during training. Then you finally find a job you really like and get laid off which doesn't look good on the application because your long job history out weighs that.At first you can get a job anywhere just about but in time it will catch up with you if you keep on quitting.

Call any mega and tell them you want to fleece a truck.
You'll be on a bus tomorrow. Problem solved.

Wow Al, long time, no hear! I'd love to do concerts, but hometime would definitely be an issue. About one year in, I'd probably be divorced being gone that long...lol

How many children do you and your wife have??

Perhaps you could "shoot" for middle to upper management positions within the company that you drive for. Dollars to donuts, those management positions will probably net you some very HEFTY paychecks.

God bless you and your entire family!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The only ones who generally care about job-hopping are the big LTL companies and the Wal-Marts of the world. The ones that can be picky on who they hire because everyone generally wants to work there.

I’m not “sticking it out” if a job sucks or I get a better deal someplace else. Loyalty is a thing of the past these days, especially in this industry. I’ve yet to work for a single company that gives a flying F about anything but $$. They don’t care about you, your family, nothing but their bottom line so I only care about my bottom line as well. So give me what I want or I’ll find someone else who will, or at least get an A for effort.

I’ve been hopping jobs for 9 years and still find decent jobs. It’s trucking, quite common to find people that’ve had 15 jobs in 20 years...
