What do you mean?
If you're referring to another company, I encourage you to read my post above in my post #29

Just because you have not found a real company yet doesn't mean you wont,....
The general thought is that your setting yourself up for failure working on a "1099",...
Like I said,..........Set your sights a little higher,... -
Maybe someone will pull though before my quarter is over . I might be getting a call from PTL.

Read the IRS regs. I'm right. But don't take my word for it. -
Well Im not really encouraged, due to the fact that everyone I talk to says the same thing. Sir your record is great, your dac is clean, no dui or drug/alcohol issues, and your previous employer said if they weren't closing the doors they couldn't ask for a better employee...ect. BUT we require 6 month OTR in the past 36 months.
So let me understand, I had 3 years continuous employment with the same employer that raves about me, and thats a bad thing? -
It aint the trucking company's fault. Its the insurance industry's requirement.

Now unless they have changed in the last year or so 1099 is still legal. I do know the government is trying to make it illegal, which I have no problem with.
Why you ask? Two words...... Lease Purchase.
So if 1099 was illegal, there would be no L/P agreements. Yeah, sorry, the only reason these companies are doing the L/P is so they can pay on the 1099 and not have to pay taxes. I'm sure this may surprise some of you, but really, these companies aren't trying to get you started in being an O/O.
Just so you know, 99% of these companies doing the L/P on the 1099 form are doing so illegally. If your company tells you what to do, you are an employee not an I/C.

Alot of it is how you as a person wants to interpret it. I'll stick with how the IRS told us. They hand out the fines!scottied67 Thanks this. -
I do understand the whole insurance issue, and see their point. I do have over a year of OTR, but its been years ago. I have no doubts about my planning, or log books abilities. I did apply and had an interview with http://www.coshoctontrucking.com/site/. There a smaller company, maybe 70 trucks or so, home weekends, flatbed which I wanted. He said everything looks great and gave me paperwork to go get a new medical certificate (mine just ran out) but I have to pay for it out of pocket, which I thought was odd, but Im no going to whine about it. He said to get it done come back for my drug, and driving test asap. So maybe this is answers to my prayers.

Good Luck!DJ4wd Thanks this. -
Do I dare ask what did you hear, or did you actually drive for them?
