i don't know about California but the GED Testing here in Indiana when i got mine in 2002 consisted solely of taking the ISTEP test which is given as a GQE exam to all students anyway. its seriously basic stuff which i passed well both when i took it as the GQE then for the GED. testing was two mornings in a row maybe 4 or 6 hours total.
there was a class i took to prepare for it but it was really just reviewing basic stuff like fractions, decimals and English skills.
disclaimer time though. they have added science and history i believe to ISTEP here in Indiana so i can't comment on what they entail.FEELTHEWHEEL Thanks this. -
i don't think GED is the problem.
most of us have NEVER been asked for it.
you all seem to be forgetting that we are only required to list the LAST 10 YEARS. so why is he listing 18 jobs from 1979 to 2003. he's only required to list his employers back to 2002. beyond that is meaningless.
whatever his problem is. the GED is just a fishtale. something in the last 10 years is his problem. not the GED.
NO ONE asks for your diploma. so when the app asks highest grade completed. just circle the highest grade.
i don't have a copy of my ged. heck, the school was demolished 15 years ago for an apartment complex.
i'm pretty sure that experience is what the companies want. they might want an education too. if you're 18 i'm sure they don't want some drop out that doesnt' care.
but at 51, i don't think education is even a factor anymore.WideSkyND Thanks this. -

Just take the test, I had to to obtain a grant for trucking school. I was 48, and dropped out in 10th grade because My moms and me needed me to work. It was easy! I could brag about my score but thats not the point. Go to your local employment office and they can direct you to the proper people to talk to. Sign up, pay your money, take the test. I cannot conceive of anybody with half a brain failing this test.
