Isn't both an applicant, as well as an employed truck driver required to have a domicile, an actual address with an actual place of residence, as an apartment, house, or some type of place that one can actually live in as a motel room, etc.??

One driver I worked with was homeless, so he rented a 24 hr. access storage place for something like $50.00 a month. Set up a bunk & all in it and stayed there on time off. He was socking the cash away in the bank though.

Some of these people don't think. It's a whole thing. And I'm not being mean, but some feel its the companies' responsibility to take care of them. This is one of those instances. Thinking ahead isn't a bad thing. And it nipped them in the butt. Hopefully this is a lesson learned. Probably won't be, but it needs to be.

With the info we have, I think it's safe to say they've probably burned that bridge already.

There is nothing wrong with living out of a truck, however, a truck driver really never knows from one day to the next whether or not he or she is going to have a job, should an accident or some unforeseen situation suddenly occur.

No matter what kind of work you do, you always want to be sure that you have a place to go home to, in addition to having enough food to eat.

By the grace of God, I have never been homeless. However, for 11 years of my life, I lived in a couple of undesirable studio apartments for less than $300.00 a month, in the Midwest. It was better than being homeless. Currently, I live in a 1 bedroom apartment for $450.00 a month, in the Midwest, a much better place than in the past.

Sadly and unfortunately, many people in many parts of the U.S.A. pay several times that amount of rent for totally unfit places to live to avoid homelessness.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Tat's too bad you wasted all that gas just for a driving job only to get there and got disqualified..What was their reason?Doubt it was the felony. What marks were on your MVR? One page application should have been a red flag.Companies look up a lot more then your criminal record which should have been done before going their.Start doing your homework and if things are on your mvr or dac and you don't have to fill anything out till you get to the company, its a good idea to make sure companies know that and have them fax you a release form so they can look all that up.

Jaquar115 While it is easy to agree with you it is also easy for ME to present an argument against your statement: Many drivers (especially and specifically these older drivers) along with the un-Federal US Government have allowed this to happen. This unconstitutional US Gov't by passing any and as much legislation as possible (2004-2013)to restrict the very freedom(s) the truck driver represented and now (2013-...) the American Male driver, whom was suppose to represent the idea (blue-collar) of work place freedom, has become little more than a sniffling wimp; period. Now we are pissing directly in the cup, passively submitting hair follicles, squirming like little girls as trucking companies now have the right(s) to suck out your blood for any perceived notion they suspect. We sign are rights away when you put signature to that so called Freedom of Information Form ("yall" need to read the contents)- Heck, if you ask me; a driver should NOT have to drive under these present conditions for a full year. Year in and year out.. This job should be like the teachers (educators) have it 7-8 months a year should suffice; But many of you trap yourselves and become slaves to debt. the companies expect this, control you by this and punk you the same: Per the OP's original post. Drivers get smart! Ooops, I forgot; It is already too late! And foreigners coming here getting their way license and all, criminal or no.

mje: partner you got it twisted: Some States (one being Florida) allow you to use a P.O. Box as a legit address. Need I remind you that this is America and this is Trucking. Many a driver has saved 6 figures over the years using their truck as the workplace and place of residence, so to speak: a company can not make you have a apartment or a house Sir! Again, this is still a little bit of America left-I think!
