True, people don't know how to utilize their hrs productively. If you are some trk stop hero then you're not going to have the hrs to run.Only time you'll see me at trk stops is to fuel and 10 hr brk.You can take your shower and do your laundry then.No need to make a special point to stop if you really don't need to.I have a lot of land to cover.

First off, it does suck that you didnt get hired, sorry to here that. If he doesn't have anything on his driving record he should be able to find something quick. If you really want to live int he truck though, why dont you consider buying your own? With no rent or mortgage I would think your financial situation is pretty good and if you have your own truck you can really make it your home.

Well, Hopefully the couple will learn from this, but also, they need to learn to plan for the future, They say they are now jobless and homeless, OK, You maybe jobless at the moment, but go rent an apartment, for a little while, until you find another job, Don't have the money then you need again, to learn how to plan ahead, Here's what you can do if you manage your money right, I have a 2906 sg ft home, wife has a 06 pt cruiser, I have a 06 pick up truck, I got off the road sept. 2012, because of a death in the family, before I left the OTR company, I made sure I had the job, dec. 2012, I was laid off, work didn't pan out like they thought and me being at the bottom of the totem pole, I was one of the first to go, I haven't been able to find anything here local, I have not worked for 11 months, When I contacted NV unemployment, they said I didn't have enough time in to collect from NV, That I needed to contact CO. CO. denied me because they said I left my job due to personal reasons, And I don't qualify, so, No help from unemployment benefits, but my bills have been paid, and still money to do thing with my wife, Why? because we plan for the future, Now granted are bills are minimal, Because the house and vehicles have been paid off, But that's because we manage are money, MY wife has not been able to get a job now in 4 years, So no unemployment for her ether, she hasn't been able to work, because her mother is now 96 yo, 4'6" tall, with Alzheimer's, and cant live on her own, and needs full time home care, so that's my wife job, Does you, the wife work?, If not why? if your husband have problem getting a job, how about you going to work until he find work, or go get you CDL and try and find work as a team? LIfe is about managing you time, whether driving a truck, or your personal life, Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to tell you how to live, But when this stuff happens, and it does from time to time, as you just found out, only you and your husband can decide "How are we going to survive if we cant find work", The reason I am the why I am, is because, I use to be careless with money when I was young and ended up in the streets with no money, no place to go, and no job, once I found a job, I decided, I will never be homeless again, I started to plan on the future, Here is what I did, Now this was back in the 80's, I found a job that paid me about $250 a week, I took $50 and put it away and never touched it, Every week!, People try and live by every dollar they make, well cant survive that way, Now because of savings getting to low, I cant wait any longer to get a local job, so I'm returning to OTR, For me, If I don't have about $10,000 in savings, I get nervous, What will happen if I cant work for some reason? how will the bills get paid, Management management management, Good luck

One thing to add here is to keep a "home base" so you can claim your meals while on the road. If you declare that you are actually LIVING in the truck, you can't (legally) use the per diem meal allowance. Perhaps he could have a relative vouch for him living at their place when he comes off the road and in lieu of rent he mows the grass, buys groceries, etc. when he is there.

^^^ Exactly! 883Bedomrider & crzyjarmans! The key word in the OP's post is where she capitalized/empasized "ONLY".
(in her statement "they faxed my husband a one page app while we were on the road. it asked for felonies ONLY!")
She did not tell us WHY she emphasized that, and makes it highly suspect that important information is not being disclosed about the factual reason Ozark said "sorry, bye-bye".

I worked with the guy for 5 years & he's the type of guy that's upfront, pretty much trust what he says. I didn't grill him about it, because I really didn't care one way or another. He's a little eccentric, but a decent guy. He starting investing in rental property in CA, MI, TN & got me interested in it also.

I like to see proof of a state that allows PO Boxes. I can show the one's that don't.

    Here's from FL DMV website

I hope people learn from their mistakes. Even a squirrel stocks up nuts for winter. Everyone should build a savings even if it's $5 a week. They've been driving 24 years and don't have a leg to stand on?

There are states that will allow you to claim them as a domicile for tax reasons with a PO Box, South Dakota is one of them, maybe others. Being a company driver and relying on a company truck as your home is set up for failure. I can understand it better if you were O/Os.

Another OP that throws other people under the bus before looking in the mirror. Ozark is a good company and it seems there are some holes in the story we are getting. There is blame here on your part also, BAD PLANNING. Good luck with the job search and learn from the experience.
