It would help us understand if you were fully open, as to the reason Ozark gave.
Now you say it was because of a 2009 misdemeanor. What was the misdemeanor, may I ask?

Unfortunately no it is not.Ozark isn't the only company that doesn't do a background check till you get to orientation.I have drove for a few companies that don't start looking up anything till you get there. You have to fill out a lengthy application then give it to the instructor then they start looking up everything.I have seen more drivers get sent home due to an incomplete application or a tarnished mvr ect.Next time fill out a long appl online and make sure not to forget anything because companies will find out.Forget those one page apps.
-
Yea. I think I know. Because recuriters get paid by recurting.
They didn't even look at his one page app nor did they
do a criminal background check before we went there! My
husband told Tommy Wilson not to let us quit that job and
come to Ozark not to get hired on. Tommy Wilsons very words
were oh no we don't work like that around here. If we bring you
to Memphis then you have job. So, that's the only think I can think
of? -
When your husband fills out any online app and the recruiter doesn't fax a request sheet for you to sign to look everything up like your dac,csa and mvr then, they'll do that during orientation after filling out a 10 page application or however long it is these days.
-
And no, it is not the company's responsibility to do a background check before orientation, or any other timeframe.
But it IS your responsibility to disclose anything and everything that even possibly might affect his "hiring/acceptance" right from the get-go.
I sounds like you knew the misdemeanor might be a problem, and CHOSE not to disclose it from day 1.
We tell every new driver here that the #1 rule on any application is "be completely honest and don't try to hide anything".
I think you violated the #1 rule, and now see how it can bite you in the rear. I don't intend to be mean, but I'd rather be straight-forward, than beat around the bush.
In any case, I do feel sorry for your situation, even if it was brought on by yourself.
And 67 posts on this thread... yet you still haven't even disclosed what the misdemeanor was, even to us. That tells me a lot, right there.Lonesome Thanks this. -
No he has a felony that they already knew about and no
he's a pretty nice guy. -
I understand being homeless or "rent free" as many call it, can save you lots of money; but being homeless or living in a self storage shed isn't grounds for bragging,,,,
JohnBoy and MissSapphire Thank this. -
No. We have an address. I don't know all I can think of is
that his recruter did not even look at his one page app. And
he was given a talkin to before they dissmissed us, so yea tha
makes sense to me? -
Tell your husband to get his act together.Hes been driving longer then many of us here at the forum has.A good trk driver is prepared. He should have told the recruiter everything on the phone and ask for a long application and you could have faxed it back. Then that would have been one less thing to go thru during orientation.Or go to their website and fill one out.
-
Ok just went to Ozark website,I see they only have one page application. but they also have yes and no questions.Snow I apologize for getting on you and husband when the chips are down.I sincerely wish you both the best and hope hubby finds a job soon.Which shouldn't be too much of a problem.Ozark isn't the only company.
