Sounds like a "friction fire". That is when spontaneous combustion is produced from high bills rubbing against an insurance policy.

Seems to me parking won't be a problem. It's the other stuff that you won't have.

That's the first thing that always seems to go through my head...

"Wonder how much insurance they had..."

Wow, I used to go to that place all the time. It seemed like it was on the path to destruction though, figuratively.

They couldn't keep a restaurant in business in the adjoining space and the Quizno's was always understaffed.

Sorry to see this happen though. It was always a reliable place to park. I would guess the lot is still open, maybe, unless they're using it for cleanup.

No one deserves for this to happen. But there was something about the people that ran that place that kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

They were always pulling up to the carport there, in their new BMW's, strutting around kind of rubbing your face in it.

And it seemed like the place was really in decline. They couldn't keep that restaurant in business and the Quizno's was always understaffed.

Went by Joe's this past weekend to top off the tanks as usual before heading back to the shop and to my surprise the place was burnt to the ground. Used to stop there all the time as fuel is hard to come by in San Francisco when we're at the shop. It was kind of a sad sight to see but the famous Joe's is no more as of right now.

Kind of sad...I've spent many nights in this parking lot, had my truck washed there, and topped off my tanks numerous times. Sad to see it go, and I hope they rebuild soon.

Holy Crap! ... I used to fuel, eat, and overnight there quite a bit. Was really pissed when the Perkos Diner closed because of the outrageous rent being charged vs customer base in slow economy. But, I still stopped there because of the great fuel prices. Just ate at Carls Jr. if I didnt have food in the truck.

That place is too much of a cash cow for the foreigner that owns it. Im sure it will be rebuilt quickly. He will probably have a fuel kiosk up and running within 2 days so that he minimizes lost revenue.

See below ... here's the newspaper report along with a VIDEO report with two interviewees ... one a Joe's Truck Stop security guard and the other a local fire chief.
