I am now several years older than both my parents were when they died...almost 10 in my mother's case. She died of emphysema, a horribly debilitating disease.

I don't tell many this. But here goes. My mom was murdered 3 days before Xmas in 1999. There's a whole story there, not getting into in here. And my dad died Christmas of 2006 of a massive heart attack, which is why I'm really focusing on my health now. I'm not getting any younger, lol. But it always sucks to lose a parent, no matter why. And Tom was pretty broken up about his mom in law. She was a real good woman he told me. One of those that faced all of that adversity and still did exactly what she set out to do. People like that are few and far in between nowadays.

It's good to focus on our health these days. There are many factors working against us and "staying healthy" isn't easy in this business. There are just too many Cinnabon outlets in truck stops! In my case, I have very old ancestors and those who died relatively young. I have no idea what factors work against me, so I take care of those I can. I actually lost weight and blood pressure with Gordon, which is pretty amazing considering the trips I took through Wyoming in winter.

But it will never be "easy," will it? So we all struggle.

I am sorry to hear the sad news about your mother in law. I haven't been checking this web site lately since
I was busy going back to Texas to recover my truck that's been down there since August 17th. I know how your
family feels since my Dad died at the age of 86 last year. My deepest sympathies to you and your family...

Sitting in a rest area in Fletcher, NC after I delivered in Black Mountain. Tomorrow at 8 am, I need to be at C & S (SATAN) in Greenville, SC. Got roped into this one because "Hey man, I really need you to do me a favor". Ran all night last night from Dover, FL after being up all day, lol. All I'm saying is I better be out of the South in the next 2 days or there is going to be hell to pay.

We've all been running consistently and/or pretty hard. And we have had mostly good weather. I see a little snow is forecast for Donner soon. Time to start thinking about cold weather.......

Time to fire up the bunk heater and make sure it's working.

And about time to swap over to cold weather wiper fluid. Thinking back to GTI puting 40 degree fluid in the truck during a p.m. in December; next run had me on 80 during a blizzard.

And of course start stashing you winter blankets , gear, and survival food in the truck.
