Well, I just got back from turning my truck, keys and fuel cards in. People have been already fighting over the truck for the last week. I cannot believe how much stuff came out of that truck. I pretty much covered all the floor space in my single car garage. Now comes the fun part sorting it all out. I could have just stopped at Goodwill and filled up one of their donation bins.:biggrin_25523:

Oh well of to something new for me.

I don't think I could do the haul road with my neck. I suffer enough running the Alcan. My boss didn't see it coming either when I told him the last trip would be my last run for him. Obviously I left on good terms so I can always come back. I just keep looking at the mess in the garage in disbelieve.

Well I know I haven't posted on here lately. They are keeping me rolling as always. My truck is
running great since Pilot paid $12,587 to install a new fuel system. New injectors, pumps and
everything else associated with the fuel system.

The one thing i have learned in trucking is that you never know what tomorrow will bring.

After 5 years with gordon i had come to believe i had found a company i would retire with and then the fateful day when the heartland buyout was announced then subsequently company going down the toilet..imo..

So, off many of us went in different directions..looking for another place we could call home for a bit or if we get lucky..another place to retire...

Joe and i started this thread to cronicle the directions our lives take along the way...not just ours but all those who choose to share their experiences with us as well.

Perhaps others can come to appreciate what we go through on a daily basis.

Not just the dangers we face on the highway but the stresses we deal with juggling family, finances and company turmoil as well.

When i began my search for a new home i found it to be very depressing because i felt i had already been with the best company out there and now they were gone. Everything else i found was a step down.

Until i came across a little company in middle tennessee which caught my eye. Now they were no gordon but there was something about them that took to my liking..

To be honest, the money was not as good as i had been getting and they did not offer insurance for the family and what they offered for the employee was not good but my wife was now working at an area hospital and she could get insurance on us, problem solved. So i went with this company..SEC and everything was great.. a true long haul company with a lot of west coast freight along with southeast but no northeast. Hometime was the best,,,as long as you wanted actually..what could be better..

Unfortunately...life changes...the hospital where my wife works is in the process of closing down and just reduced her to part time status at 24 hours a week...we all know why this is happening this is not the place for that.
Since my wife is now part time i must now take a job with a company that offers quality health care insurance i can get for us.

I have known this was coming for some time so i have been able to locate a company who offers what i am looking for.

As we all know when changing companies we should always expect the worse and only believe what you see.

I will be advising SEC of my departure in the morning and posting more on my next adventure when i get started.

I am grateful for everything the folks at SEC did for me while i was there...they are great people..a small company but obviously a little too small to afford the benefits i have need of...

Well, dang it, man....I'm so sorry to hear this. Sadly, in this day and time it's becoming an all-too-familiar scenario. I know youll land on your feet, and I'm sure we are all looking forward to hearing about your next stop. Godspeed to you and your wife!

I wish you the best in your new endeavor, tow. I hope to have a new one in six months or so myself. Until then, I read...well, until snow flies, anyway, at which time I take a high-paying job as a "shoveler" for a local plow company.

    At $19 an hour. 😆
