I was not happy with their planners doing the real dispatching and their lack of caring of the drivers needs. I really did not like being told that I would work 0600-1600, drop the load I was waiting to unload and then go take a 10 hr break and then start up again at 0200 and take a load across Donner Pass at 0300 in 9 degree weather and have to put on and take off chains in three seperate locations and deliver in Tracy by 0700. Maybe when I was 21 not when I am 61...LOL

A company I had applied with before Gordon came up with an empty truck and I called them back and was offered a job.

The trick to gordon and chaining was simple...

gordon and heartland both do not require chaining....

when the chain law is up simply send a message on the qualcomm that it is not safe to continue and they will shut up..

Heartland wont even let you drive when its snowing. They issue shutdown orders over the QUALCOMM when its snowing in the area your driving in.
I could write a small book on the way this company operates. On average I made just as much take home pay as I did driving for SEC even though
I took a 11cpm pay cut when I went over to SEC. They don't care if you sit in their truck at a customer to take your breaks or if you make any money
or not. They are famous for wasting the drivers time with no compensation to the driver. A total POS company to drive for. At Heartland its all about
on time delivery and winning awards from their customers so they can brag about how great they are. I notice I never see any Heartland drivers on
this website telling us how much they like to drive for Heartland.

I guess a lot has changed since i left....i had a new planner there try to make me run across wyoming in high winds when i was empty. He said it looked fine but i refused.. he got another truck to go but it blew over ..

in 5 years i only chained 3 times with gordon....i only chain to get somewhere safe to park not move freight...if i make the decision to chain and wreck no company will stand behind your decision and your career will be over..

Or to put it as I was taught "Chains (or now socks) are to get you out of trouble, Not into more trouble"
