back in the late 70's i picked up fish in the Carolinas going to Fulton fish Market underneath the Brooklyn bridge
when you went to Colington NC to pick up it was down this dirt road 2 miles until you got to the sound
when you got to the turnoff you had to call the fish house and they blocked the road so you wouldnt meet any traffic coming out
when you got there the skiff boats would start unloading throwing the fish out of the boat into bath tubs full of water pumped out of the sound. then pack it in wax cartons and conveyor belt to back of the truck
you would throw down a bed of ice to make the floor slick enough so boxes would slide as you grabbed them off
the conveyor and hurled them up forward to stack
good thing the trailer was only a 41'
so i guess driving the east side was just natural to me
now that i am old NE and WY seem just rightRugerfan, Blu_Ogre and Dark_Majesty_06 Thank this. -

by 85 they had paved and widened the road
and had a ramp loading dock
so the story wasn't as good
but they still washed the fish in bath tubs
they had to fill the tubs with ice and water after they washed them off
little fish like spots and croakers were so heated up from 80 degree sound water
if you didnt cool the core temp before you put them in cartons they would spoil on the way to NYC -
Rugerfan Thanks this.
