Really. That is your top item for the bucket list. I guess a first hand report would be interesting. So I will have to second that. Alright, DD get that Mustang convertible out and head West.

I agree with Joe 4k+ mile weeks are good!

Loaded Sat in Yuma. it was produce and took all day but 70 was close to zero when I pulled in Friday.
dropped just south of Cincy Tues eve = 2100 miles
grabbed a preloaded trailer Wed morning dropped in Macon GA = 500 miles (considered short haul = a couple pennies more per mile)
Snagged an empty to drop near Atlanta 100 mile dead head.
Snagged a preloaded heading for Barstow Ca area 2100 miles. Drop and hook location due before midnight Monday. Should drop Sunday.

    4800 miles in a little over 8 days = average of 600 miles/day.

GTI I averaged about 400 miles per day..... Call it a 50% pay raise because this company has good loads and planners.

Great post Joseph. I am not here to take digs at GTI/Heartland, that is not my sole purpose in life, as you say although at the moment my miles are not quite as stratospheric as yours (although rising rapidly) and by the time I deliver this 3,000 mile Vermont to Henderson,NV load I will have just over 10,500 in a month. Again, not stellar but still higher than I ever managed at GTI. The big thing for me as with other is I do not have people breathing down my neck 4 and 5 times a day (and yes I realise the brown stuff rolls downhill) the release of pressure I feel going from a mega carrier to a decent smaller one is worth it. I have said time and time again I wish NOBODY any ill will at GTI/Heartland. And GTI WILL continue to hold its drivers, especially those based in the NW. It is difficult for me to comment on GTI pre-buyout as I wasn't there long enough, I can only comment on what I saw there. And what I saw was a maintenance department who were only interested in what THEY did, didnt give a rat's rear end on whether YOU made money or not and wanted to adjust little things that made no consequence as to whether the truck would run or not, and farm it out to Cummins, Freightliner or wherever at the drop of a hat with no concern whatsoever for the driver. EVERY time I went to get any kind of maintenance done it would consistently put me out of service for several days on end. THAT was why I was near the bottom end of the driver scale. At Holland I am around mid-table...we have over HALF of our drivers that are receiving 10,500 to 11,500.

Black metal would make my ears bleed!!! When I want to listen to loud 'stay awake' music I listen to a British band called Ocean Colour Scene....a band that is just meant to be played LOUD....
