I knew that was one of the first-to-go items when I was told the ONLY place they would be worked on are GTI shops. No more ThermoKing, the guys who know what to do.

Oh, well. No more trucking for me. I'm into BMW motorcycle shopping now. I'll watch bad weather on TV. My new favorite show? 'Highway Thru Hell,' on The Weather Channel. Winter the way it should be...from the warmth of my living room.

It's a reality show that follows the operations of Jamie Davis Motor Truck, a heavy vehicle rescue and recovery towing company based in Hope, British Columbia. They move Canadian big rigs off a very remote highway. These are so big rigs, too. And they have a million-dollar tow truck that they use a lot. It's "Ice Road Truckers Meet 30" Snowfall And Black Ice."

It's on Sundays at 10:00 on The Weather Channel, not HBO. I was mistaken.

I've seen it. It's the best trucking reality show there is because they are real people doing the real thing. No acting in that, they are up on that pass in BC. I can't remember the name, begins with a C. Great show.

My vote is for the R 1150 GS or R 1150 GS Adventure. I had two 1150's and totaled one in the Yukon in 2006. After a lot of road side fixing I was back on my way. Rode it up to the Arctic circle and back to Washington after my run in with the local wildlife. Should have kept that bike instead of giving it back to the insurance.

The Coquihilla Highway. The 'Coq' (pronounced 'coke') as they call it. It's like going over Donner without all the CHP and silly chain laws. With much lower temperatures. And very much more snow. And more trucks.
