Ok, a couple of long days. Lots of waiting at shippers and receivers.
Reason number 1429 why I think I want to do flatbed..... CHICKEN Processing plants..... UGH.... Chickens go in, Poultry comes out....
I'm going on a red meat diet now. (well, at least until I have to pick up some beef or pork somewhere)..... Man, what a nasty smell. I swear I could still smell it in the truck the next day. I think it got on my shoes.... and my trainer says, "Wait until Summer, then it's really ripe..." PU.
Finally got out of the backwoods of MS and AR. Picked up a frozen load in Russelville AR and we're headed to NM. I was so excited to head west.
I've been doing the marjority of the driving. Lots of different roads and conditions. I have 43 hours now. Shifting is getting better, I still miss a gear or two here and there, but I feel more confident now. He's been letting me back in today, I need the practice. Drove 400 miles on 40 west bound through AR and OK, the wind out the the south all day. really screwed our mileage up. I was doing 56 and barely squeaked out 6.0 mpg. I had seen 8.0 while headed to texas last weekend.
Lots left to learn, but I'm having a blast. So far I have not regretted the decision. I do miss my kids and GF, but I think in the end, this will be worth it.
Everybody be safe out there..... -
Good job!! Enjoy TYSON LOL

I'm loving this easy trip. Picked up in AR, made it to within 60 miles of the 90 today. I have driven the last two days. I'm up to 43 hours now. Getting lots of practice doing just about everything. The only thing I haven't done is bump a dock. But that's coming.
In NM now, I'm loving the weather and views. Man, I forgot how much I missed the west. I love the wide open spaces out here.
I am hoping we'll get to see some winter weather soon, I would like the experience.
